New Group just for Men over 60

I scanned through many of the groups on this website and didn't really find any that applied to my situation, so I decided to start a new group for 2025.

In this group we can share our common journeys, goals and insights in a safe, non-judgemental space. Everything is anonymous so feel free to express yourself in a positive manner, or just ask a question to see how the group can help.

Welcome aboard.

I'm Brian. I'm 68 years old. (YIKES!!!😲) I'm hoping this will be the last weight-loss journey I'll need to be on (yes, I know the struggle is continuous every day). Let's see, 1 month later to the day of my 60th birthday (2017) my left leg gave out, toppling over, and breaking my left hip. I got a lousy Medicaid hip repair (left leg is now 1" shorter than right) and have had to use a rollator, because of my new limp and general instability, balance problems, leg weakness and constant spasms. After a full year of seeing doctors do every test imaginable (but the two I needed: specialized MRIs of my brain and spine, as well as a spinal tap) in 2018 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I was "happy" with the diagnosis, if only because I no longer had people saying that my "illness" was just psychological, and I was faking physical problems to get early SS and SSI !!! (As if, I "really enjoy" being disabled!!!😡)

Anyways, I've struggled with my weight from childhood on… but as an adult it fluctuated somewhere between 180 to 245 lbs. But with my MS and lousy hip repair, my weight increased to 286.2 lbs as of 5/31/24. For so many health and appearance issues I knew I had to lose major weight. (I live is Senior-Disabled housing and every 3-4 months someone dies from a disease/illness/disability connected to obesity!😧)

The good news is that of today, May 5, 2025 I now have brought my weight down to 215.8 pounds (having lost 70+ pounds in 11 months).😊 I'll share more about "how" I did that in another post.

I'm really happy to have found this men's group, as I feel it's good to be accountable to others, and get/give support and encouragement!!!
