I know I am the OAL who wrote, this, but when the subject came up of a healthy habit I JUMPED to do it!! WHY? My sleep has not been good at all. I learned so much more as I did so. Since I had been working at sleep before writing this healthy habit and talked to others who have a hard time sleeping, we zeroed in on the few points above, plus more.

Now I am sleeping better. TY TY TY @Ceriusly1 for asking, I hope members do put comments in here.

My problem is not the ability to fall asleep, nor to stay asleep. It's the fact I have to get up at 4am if I want to hit the gym before work (between work plus commute, going after is a no-go most days). This means I have to hit the sack by 10pm if I want 6 hours of sleep, and there's really no way I can be in bed by 8pm for a full 8 hours, between work, commute, cooking dinner, helping my daughter with homework, and spending at least a little time with my wife. I used to be lucky to get 5 hours a night; about a month or so before the challenge started I began trying to stick to 6 hours, and thus it naturally became my healthy habit focus for this challenge. So far I'm hitting the 6-hr mark more often than not, but still not all the time as it's easy to lose track of time in the evening.

Not everyone needs 8 hours a night. Like you in general I'm 5 to 6 hours a night. GOOD JOB on working on hitting the 6 hr mark!!! That's FANTASTIC!!!

I do not have a problem getting to sleep or falling back to sleep if I need to get up in the middle of the night. The problem I have is I am an early riser no matter what time I go to bed. Usually I get up between 5:00 and 6:00. So I usually go to bed between 9:00 and 10:00. This works for the most part, but if I get involved with a movie or something and get to bed late says 11:00 or 12:00 then I will get only 5 or 6 hours of sleep. My husband take melatonin and that works for him.

I am not a fan of this healthy habit. As an old lady of 56, I know many my age struggle with sleep issues. Having to put down how many hours I slept just makes me focus on it and feel bad. I go to bed at the same time every night and have healthy habits, but I cannot control the insomnia. Luckily, I've been on a good run of sleeping during this part of the challenge.

Maybe regular bedtime and wake up time would be more positive?

I have three small kids and like to stay up late watching my shows after they are in bed around 830. I have ended up awake until 11 or 12 on nights I am not exhausted. If I am exhausted I will fall asleep around 9 or 10. I am a light sleeper so when first kid gets up at 6 I am usually up with them and if the cats are running wild or the dogs have digestive issues or the kids wake up scared I can be up several times a night .... I get 7 hours many nights, 6 most and 5 once in awhile too... The main thing I can work on is turning off the screens at bedtime, 11. I got rid of my smart phone so the lap top is more tedious to turn off in the middle of the night when I fall asleep with it on. So that will be my healthy habit. Turn off the screen before I fall asleep instead of falling asleep to it.... It will be a challenge because I have used it as a pacifier....also I need to stick to a 2pm caffeine cut off.
