Hi, all. I hope that I'm not creating the weekly post at the same time as someone else. I used to get online earlier, but these days, I get up and have coffee and read the paper, shower, dress, and make the bed, and then it's time to hit the road to get to treatment. From there I go to the mall to walk, drive home, eat lunch, do a couple of chores, and puff--the day is almost gone. But today was treatment 13 of 21. Only 8 more to go!
I won't know what to do with myself once this routine changes.
I was a little nervous about today's treatment being cancelled due to snow, but we only got 4 or 5 inches, and they pre-treated the roads, so travel was no problem. In fact, because the schools were closed anyway, traffic was light. The only problem was the bozo's who do not have a garage and don't clean the snow off the top of their cars. These are often folks who drive super-fast, too, so all that snow flies back on the cars behind them. But this was a wet snow that stuck to the bare trees and so it was pretty outside at least. Sheesh and Kelly, I know this amount of snow is nothing to you, and it used to not be much to us, but in recent years, we just don't get that much here in the DMV.
Thus, far, I am not having a lot of side effects from the radiation. There are some--stiffer arm and shoulder, some itching and some little blisters--but nothing I can't deal with. And for the past few days, my lower belly has felt better--not totally normal, but better. I did find out that my sister's step-granddaughter does have colon cancer, and she will soon be transferred to a larger hospital for surgery. Maybe it's my age, but I just seem to hear about more people having colon issues now.
As far as our goals go, I am still struggling to drink as much water as I should. Intake wise, I'm still watching what I eat and avoiding things that are hard to digest or too spicy, so that has helped me stay pretty much within my calorie range. I do hope that I can soon add things with more fiber like more fruits and vegetables. I am eating both now but being picky about which ones and how they're prepared.
Before I go, here are my 7-day averages. With steps, I do good on weekdays, but weekends are a little harder. Same with kcals burned. On weekends, both go down.
Steps = 10,477
Kcals Burned = 1,772
Looking forward to hearing from everyone. And before I go, where do you ladies shop for clothing that is a little dressier than every day. Not fancy--just not real casual. As I walk in the mall (and this is a mall with some high-end stores), I'm just not seeing things that appeal to me. Everything seems to be for young women or tall women. I need to buy a "go out to eat" outfit.
