omgosh I can't believe all the fantastic inspiration I've missed out on! LOVING the updates here!!

I got an unexpected delivery of a bunch of Raw Generation juices (I lost track of the timing of a subscription I signed up for in the winter) a few days, and don't have enough freezer room for it, so the next few weeks are going to be heavy on juices for me and the mister, up here in Maine :D

I took pix of various salads, cheesy chicken broccoli casserole, pizza with artichoke & arugula, and ofc avo toast etc. I'll try and post pix again starting tmo. Today, I'm going to catch up on the last couple weeks of my MFP threads !

    04 25 25 Bird & Co food (lunch with Katie).jpg

I had a lovely, but unexpected lunch date with my daughter today. And got in a walk afterwards, while she shopped :). Katie called just as I was finishing my starter lunch course (nuts) and asked to go to lunch. She was getting her windshield replaced not far from here, and it was going to be a few hours because they had to calibrate it (?) with the car systems. Anyway ! I had a lovely lunch with Kate at Bird & Co, and we picked up some to take home for Eric. Cute taco place - NOT Taco Bell-ish at all.

    04 25 25 Bird & Co Menu (lunch with Katie).jpg

She had 2 each of the House Tacos (Pickled onion, queso fresco, avo-verde, chicken) and another one, I honestly can't remember which, getting it mixed up with the ones she chose for her Dad (Tijuanan (shredded pork, cheddar jack, onion, cilantro, au jus, griddled corn tortilla); Chorizo & Potato (crispy red potatoes, onion, cilantro, sour cream); Jerk Chicken (grilled chicken, grilled pineapple, jerk sauce, cilantro, onion) ). I ordered a Fish Taco (Fried Haddock, cabbage, avocado, pico, ranchero), Sweet Plantain taco (black beans, plantain, pico de gallo, jalapeno garlic sauce), Bean & Sweet Potato Taquitos (black beans, sweet potatoes, corn, red bell pepper, onion, spicy mayo), Elotes (Mexican street cor, lime mayo, cotija, parmesan, cilantro, paprika, jalapeno garlic sauce). I ate half of my order, and took the other half home for tmo =).

    04 25 25 Bird & Co post-lunch walk (lunch with Katie).png

She wanted to go explore the art store across the street afterwards; I wanted to go for a walk :p. I forgot that she said she wanted to explore the art store, so she asked if we could walk around there 🤨😂🙃. I said sure, ofc. Did that for about 20 mins or so, and then suggested we split up. LOL I am like NOT at all an artist, walking through an art store with Katie is like walking through a music store with Eric - I don't 'get' either topic. lmao But they're lost in complete and utter absorption the whole time. She said sure, that should could happily explore for well over another 20 mins. So, off I walked. Had a great time, cute neighborhood in that area, old neighborhood - pre-cookie-cutter housing developers, so they're all different to each other.

    ps!

(My pace is quite slow the last few weeks - After a 2.24 mi drizzly hike a few Sundays ago, on an uneven/muddy woodsy path (Portland Rail Trail), a few hours later my HEEL starting hurting. Great, something new to go wrong with my appendages and joints? :p. The next day I couldn't even step on it, I was hobbling around with my LL Bean hiking stick. Subsided to walkable by Tuesday, that Wed I had in-office PT for knee(s), I asked her about it. She said probably plantar fasciitis, and offered some suggestions (heel cup, stretches, good shoes, etc). Anway, it's been walkable these last few weeks, but I'm using my hiking pole, and the pace is def slower. Still walking tho!)

    double ps!

Thank you ! This is the month I like Maine the least, and miss New York the most - everything is blooming there, while it's still waking up here :p

The juices reallllyyy make my Freggie Tracking hit its marks! Because of that unexpected shipment earlier this week, I'm on track for 7/7 days in all four of my tracked categories, for the first time since we opened the doors! 🥳

Click on the tiny pix to see my week-to-date Freggie Tracker for this week. It's the new 'inline' photo resizing option MFP debuted recently (I put pix of my daughter and me at our lunch date, in my tacos pix above, did you see them? :) ) ~

Sunday checkin~! Post-Planet Fitness workout late lunch/early dinner.

Stopped in at Trader Joe's to pick up bananas, and more of that yummy bread from a couple weeks ago! There were a couple men stocking the fresh sammies/wraps in the produce aisle, so I asked one of them their favorite (Italian wrap), and picked it up to split with hubby. I picked up a pint of blueberries, along with bananas to go with, and some yummy spicy crunchies a woman was giving out free samples of (bought a package - Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix). It went well with the fruit and wraps.

    PXL_20250427_211134058 (1).jpg

Had a green juice for some GREEN, too. Plus a Kefir Aqua (only 30 cals, to add some Fermented Food to my tracker!) I got a Chocolate Almond Trader Joe's smoothie for the mister (he also had a Rise n Shine green juice). I added a serving of nuts after finishing what was in the plate, so I could hit my Nuts serving, on my tracker, for today :).

    PXL_20250427_211536850 (1).jpg

Turns out the GREEN juice had no green in it tho!, so I'll be sure to have something green before the night is over - for my first PERFECT BOARD on my Freggie Tracker - evah!

Congrats on hitting Green goals for the week @mkksemail

    Juices all look refreshing.

We had moved from sodas to sparkling waters, and intended to ease off those. RD mentioned Fri that there may be benefit in the gut with those, so checking water varieties out.

Weather turned summerlike, so in mood for cold foods and drinks again. Will look at some juices too.

Had a green type at a hospital cafeteria once but that was the only time I've noticed green drinkd available as a drink choice.

TY, yakky! ☺️ That was a big accomplishment for me! Before stumbling across a May Green Smoothie challenge on the Challenge forums a few yrs ago, my food groups were basically cereal, pasta, rice, chicken, cheese, and beans :p. (whole grains, at least ;-)) Well, that's not entirely true, for a couple yrs before I'd found that challenge, I'd been kinda sorta trying to meet a 2 cup a day fruit goal and a 3 cup a day veggie goal, and a 14g of fiber per 1k of calories goal, but they were very much 'aspirational' more than 'actual' goals ;-).

So interesting on the sparkling water-gut health comment! Gut biome and fermented foods are a recent focus for me. Same with the freg situation, I've been 'thinking' about it for a couple of years, but not doing much about it :p.

The juices, they were a combo inspiration from postings in this group, and exasperation with my own Greens/Freg in general achievement last fall. I saw a sale on some juice packages and signed up for them. Saw another sale in winter, and committed to a 2-shipment subscription (that I lost track of the timing of in my mind). The second shipment just came about a week ago. I'd never had a green juice before last fall, either! Or green smoothie, for that matter. Celery juice is growing on me. SafariGal always had such great things to say about it - I wasn't an instant fan, let's say ;-). But I like it now! :D

Do you think the juice would freeze well?

I love freezing orange juice in ice cube trays to use in summer drinks.

Cara Cara (seedless, particularly juicy, tinged red, medium sized) is a naval orange variety, like Cuties (sweet, small) and Tangelos (bit tart, medium sized) are both tangerines with a little bit different characteristics.

Yes, for sure, on the freezing, the problem is, I lost track in my mind of the timing of this shipment, and there isn't room in the freezer for it :p.

Oh! on Cara Cara! right, ofc! :)

Went out to dinner last night and had broccoli mousse! It was great! (Amongst other things!)

gardening lunch today with 5 greens juice (kept pulp in!) gave a hint of sweet with some 🥭 mango. (And one lone majestic purple tomato!)

Broccoli mousse !!!! Love that whole concept! lol It's gorgeous, too.

What is the dish below the gorgeous purple heirloom tomato (did that taste as good as it looked?). I can't quite tell if that dish is mushrooms and greens, or meat and greens? And isn't that funny, that mushrooms can look so much like meat? :D

    PXL_20250503_220644678.jpg

Saturday dinner ci! ~ more juice, or smoothie, in this case. Yakky, all these juices/smoothies are on overload for me. Trying to use up that unexpected/unplanned for shipment. Hopefully it doesn't get too boring/repetitive to see me posting yet another juice :p. On the plus side, much easier to fill up my Freggie Tracker with these things! heh

Dinner was a turkey and muenster sammie, on the fabulous Trader Joe's bread (omg it's so good - hubby said, wow! that was the best turkey sandwich I've had in a really long time!) … actually, I think this one is different to the last one, but it's honestly just as damn good as the one from a few weeks ago, if it is different!

With a Raw Generation smoothie - Vanilla Greens smoothie (cashews, spinach, dates, swiss chard, vanilla).

And the last of the spicy crunchies I picked up at TJ's when I got the bread - Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix.

Sunday! Ginger Turmeric juice (Raw Generation, apple, ginger, turmeric, lemon). This one was one of hubby's favorites. Likes the taste, and it doesn't spike his sugar too much (he's T1 diabetic).
