Today's Topic: Stress and eating during stressful times. Not stress from dieting or stress as in Greg's post about Fatigue. Which is a great topic.
Stress as in life and stressful situations. There's no use to name any particular type of stress situation because it's spans to large an area. Also one type of stress for one person might not be a big deal while for another person it could put them to bed with worry or make them physically sick.
In what way(s) do you handle food during a stressful situations or crisis.

I've run the table at nearly age 78 and dealt with a lot of stressful situations. I believe subconsciously in some situations I turned to food maybe as a comfort sometimes maybe not. I can always turn to a higher power and I definitely do nearly 100% of the time.
If I turn to food it usually doesn't go well for me. I might take a mental attitude and say what the heck and just eat what I want. In other stressful times I might just tell myself I'm not hungry and just push forward and many times miss one or at least two meals. We all know that's not good.
Personal stress situations can take on a life of their own and really can mess up a day, week, a year or even the rest of your life. I've experienced all of those situations I believe so far.
Sometimes when a crisis is over DW and I, if we have the funds go out and celebrate that we made it through, have a nice meal if the funds are there and then move on to the next day and face whatever life throws at us. Yes food tends to come up sometimes like let's go have a milkshake or go to an ice cream place and have a special dessert. Someway somehow I do my best to remove the stress unless it's something I can't do anything about then I just move on to a good book or something to get my mind moving in a different direction.
I really try my best not think about food during those stressful situations because I really eat way too much or eat too much of the wrong thing if I'm not careful.
