🧮 Countdown & Pre-Challenge Activity #5: HAVE YOU MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOURSELF? 🧮

When thinking about the 2025 Spring 5% Challenge, you must COMMIT to the changes that you plan to make and you must also commit to the Challenge itself.  There are many ways to commit to the Challenge.  The easiest and fastest way to make that commitment to the Challenge (and to help ensure you start AND finish) is to Make An Appointment With Yourself.

In researching this topic, I found that I’m not the only one that tries to ‘stay on track’ by adding this type of activity to a calendar.  If you are anything like me, there is a ‘wall calendar’ that still adorns a part of my kitchen.  On it, I carefully add birthdays and some important appointments, but I find that most of these are duplicated on a calendar that I carry with me.  Years ago, I used to carry a smaller, purse-sized calendar and I would carefully record birthdays/anniversaries/appointments/vacations, etc. on it.  Fast forward several years and almost everyone carries (and uses) a calendar by way of an ‘app’ that is on your cell phone.  Why not add the 2025 Spring 5% Challenge as an event (or appointment) on whatever calendar program that you use?

One suggestion is to add the 2025 Spring 5% Challenge as a recurring appointment or event.  One time per week is all that is really needed, but it will serve as a constant reminder that you are working toward a goal that has a beginning and an end.  Not sure what to ‘calendar’?  Here is a format that you can copy/use for your own purposes (or you can design your own format).  First, consider color coding the Challenge to a color that makes it ‘stand out’ and is different from any/all of your other appointments.  Next, decide how you want this appointment to show up on your calendar … following is an example of a weekly appointment (that shows up every Saturday during the Challenge with additional entries highlighting the final day of the challenge and final weigh-in ~ please note, I'm one of the Co-Leaders of the Red Hots Team):

Pre-Challenge - 4/5/25 - 4/11/25 Week 1: 4/12/25 - 4/18/25 Week 2: 4/19/25 - 4/25/25 Week 3: 4/26/25 - 5/2/25 Week 4: 5/3/25 - 5/9/25 Week 5: 5/10/2 - 5/16/25 Week 6: 5/17/25 - 5/23/25 Week 7: 5/24/25 - 5/30/25 Week 8: 5/31/25 - 6/6/25 Final Weigh-In, (WIN):  6/7/25

This is not a unique idea as you can do an online search for something like:  Planning a weight loss journey/calendar.  You will find many ideas that deal with this topic.  In previous topics we have discussed planning in many different ways, this exercise strives to keep you on track.  A seasonal 5% challenge is 8 weeks.  Each week = 7 days.  8 weeks X 7 days/week = 56 days in total.  You CAN commit to 56 days (or 8 weeks) and making an appointment with yourself to ensure that you are present each and every day is so smart!

💭Please think about the suggestions of this exercise and let everyone know that you have committed to the Challenge by making that appointment with yourself.  In addition, please share your creative ways to remind yourself to show up!!

Feel free to add your comments to this thread outlining your exercise plan for a successful 2025 Spring  5% Challenge  (if you blog, you may add the link to your blog here or you may simply wish to copy/paste your writing here - or do both!), but please consider sharing!!

I put my goals on my planner calendar and a power list inside of the app I track my food and workouts in. So I can check them off as I get my tasks done for the day.

I did so well in the Wintah 5% Challenge and plan on continuing this streak!! I am doing this FOR ME and of course, my team benefits from it.

I have the start and finish date, on Sat the 12th I'll add my weight to this and my measurements. During week 8 I'll do my measurements again, but ALL Throughout the weeks I'll keep an eye on the goals with the other pre assignments and any others also in mind and have them written down.

I will be traveling for one week of this challenge…so I will have to focus carefully that week…But I have 30 minutes blocked off every morning when I am not traveling to get my exercise done.

My trip is to go visit my daughter, son-in-love, and two grandkids…so I hope to have lost of time to walk and get activity in.

I promise myself I will do this.

Have a Great and Happy Day!!! Gretl

I use the Passion Planner with nice colorful stickers and time blocks. The workout blocks will again be in lime green, my favorite color. I also have a wall calendar in my bedroom I will be using.

I put tomorrow's start date on my planner, that's the point I'm usually unsure of.

I plan to have a calendar for my exercise and write down each day the activities I have done. I am putting my weight on a calendar, too.

Exercising earlier in the day is the best for me. If I leave it too long, I don't do it. I need to make it a priority.

Yes, I have a nighttime appointment for me before 11 so I can keep my goal of getting to sleep by that time. Me time is really important for me right now because I am in caregiver mode for my brother ( in another city,) Little Brother ( from Big Brothers Big Sisters,) an adult child who lives with us, sometimes her bf, and it is my job to care for tiny humans at least ten hours daily five days a week. Our former Little Sister ( now grown up) sometimes needs me, and so does my biological sister. Sometimes, the me time keeps me awake longer than I would like, so I am going to work very hard at completing that task earlier in the evening.
