WW to file bankruptcy?

News reports say WW might file bankruptcy soon. I dropped WW years ago, but have followed news about them on and off. I think they went wrong when they got away from their core concepts. I'm not posting this to bash WW, but rather I'd like to hear thoughts from those of you who still go, or keep up with them closer than I do.

I never went to a WW Meeting but was an on line member for years in fact that's when we eventually had over 200 plus members in Guys ( plus lots of ladies) on a Diet.
I can't remember the exact date and time but while on it I lost a hundred lbs in approximately a year 2010. However they made a major point change that effected carbs and sugars and it was way to strict. I just remember example that perhaps you could have a of apple pie example and it would destroy the day or something like that. I never had anything against WW it just didn't work mentally or physically for me anymore when they Rev a medical their point system. I believe I started tracking with My Fat Secret and My Fitness Pal somewhere in the 2010 range and of course came over here with a couple hundred other people. I sometimes wonder what happened to all those people.
Anyway I do not wish them WW any bad luck and hope they can reorganize b/c they have helped a lot of people. I don't think Opra really helped them that much either. Just my thoughts.

The anticipated bankruptcy gives them a chance to consolidate and reorganize. I’m not one to bemoan the good old days. The world has changed and WW with it. I thought that by getting into the weight loss drug business they would regain some of their lost revenue. The pandemic helped decimate the in-person meetings. WW has solid weight loss principles, unlike so many modern scams.

WW has:
$1.6 billion in total debt, $175 million of which is in loans due for repayment
Declining revenue due to a shrinking customer base.
Lost of a key investor (Oprah)
Inability to adapt to the changing market.
They are planning to reorganize under Chapter 11.

1.6 billion in debt? Wow, they have not managed their money very well. It will be interesting to see what the newest iteration of WW will be. I think Jenny Craig also went bankrupt.

I made Lifetime and kept going to that meeting for nearly 10 yrs. Never exceeded the GW +2 lbs limit. Only quit the meeting when we moved to FL. 1st thing I noticed about WW meetings was the revolving door. I vowed not to get in it. Just before I left they seemed to move away from the idea they were a weight loss program.
The meetings had mostly been a girls club all along. But people would drop out in frustration when they didn’t lose weight. So it looked like WW’s fix to keep them coming was to drop weight loss. Wonder if they would have been OK but for Covid? Also,it’s probably a lot easier just to take a pill.0 -
As a business man I always thought WW was missing an obvious opportunity for growth by not marketing to men. Heck the reason GOAD started was the dearth of male issues focus coming from WW. So I am not completly surprised that they are having issues today. And I always felt that Oprah had a negative influence on their product moving them away from how do I lose weight, and into how do I feel!
At any rate I dropped out of WW when they closed my local center and the next closest one was over 90 minutes away. I think its sad to see, and I will be interested to see how this plays out.
