How accurate is your tracking?

When I started WW's Points Plus program many moons ago, I weighed or measured everything.  I used their points calculator, entering all the required nutritional information.  My tracking was quite accurate back then, or at least the best I could do.  Fast forward to today, and although my food scale and measuring cups still play a part, I "know how many points" certain foods are.  I start my day logging 5 points for my cereal.  Chicken is 1 point per ounce, no matter how it is prepared.  I tend to count my wife's homemade cookies as three points each, no matter if they are sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, or something else.  Most foods I track solely by 'X' points per calorie.  You get the point.  My tracking works for me, overall, but it is far from accurate.

How acccurate is your tracking? Are you still careful with everything you track?   Do you 'eyeball' a cup of this or that without measuring it?  Are there times when you are more accurate with your tracking than other times?

Mine is "fairly" accurate. I track WW and MFP. A lot like Phil, I know the normal foods, and need to guess others.

Although I'm on an upwards trend, I'm trying to cut the "snackage", and get back under control.

I’d say it’s predominantly accurate. My primary tracking is on WW, so it’s select a food and then a portion size. I weigh and measure certain things that are hard to honestly eyeball like crackers, but there are other things where I’ll have seven pretzel thins and go by count. Every three months or so, I’ll do a bit more weighing and measuring just to ensure that my eyeballs are roughly calibrated.

I don’t track condiments, since they’re usually zero points when I do. My rebellious streak is expressed when I track a dark beer as a regular beer. Whoopee. Like the line in Bill Murray's film Stripes, “I wanna party with you, dude!”
