Well it's the end of the week and my weight has now stayed within my goal weight of 185 for over a month now and today I was at 183.9. My morning workout was a struggle, but I got through it. I have been using lighter lower body weight all week, and plan to up the weight starting Monday. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get a slower paced 20 mile bike ride in as I recover from my injuries. If all goes well I will resume my HIIT next Tuesday. This weekend will be my fourth 36hr fast, I have found 36hrs is the sweet spot for me, and it is very sustainable. It's amazing how the body adapts.

Best wishes to all, and I wish everyone a great Mother's Day weekend!

@SummerSkier , me too! Checking in with this group helps to keep me keeping on.

@Interbeing , your 37-hour fasts and 20 mile bike rides are so impressive! That’s quite a plan for the weekend!

May 8 - Easier to stay under. I even got to enjoy an early Mother’s Day tea with two of my daughters. They bought some French macarons, and I worked them into my calorie count.

Friday morning was weigh-in, and a bit disappointing, but considering the big drop last weigh-in, I am trying to keep my spirits up.

@Interbeing I don't know how you manage those fasts. I probably could years ago but now my body needs a more steady state and mild approach I guess.

@77tes I would trust today's progress more than last week. The scale always takes a dive at first but you HELD THE WIN!!! I say that means that your body is starting to understand you are in deficit and hopefully next week you will see even more progress. The scale fluctuates so dramatically for me for no particular reason than I can tell so weekly weigh ins for me would be a crap shoot of which part of the fluctuation I happened to hit. Long term of course you get a good picture.

The tale of the balance continues and yesterday I decided to habit stack by adding some additional arm strength exercises in before I did the balance exercise. Today for the first time so far I managed to achieve "ZEN" on my left leg in the evening sess. I think where I was able to relax and could hold the pose almost effortlessly. Of course the right leg then refused to play so we had to try a few times on it before ending the session. Its funny how the first leg I try is always eager to play but the 2nd one is harder. Doesn't matter which (witch) leg but always the first and second.

Happy Friday and hope everyone gets to enjoy a nice mother's day weekend!

Sounds like everyone is focused and doing really well. 👏🏻👏🏻

I’ve flossed every day but 1. Yay! It’s made a huge difference keeping the floss next to the toothbrush. Water intake is slowly improving and I did 2 strength training workouts this week. 💪🏻

Lower vegetable intake this month 🤔 so I’ll be focusing on more veggies in my diet.

@SummerSkier , Hooray for achieving ZEN on your left leg balance! All those attempts are starting to show for sure!! Thanks for the pep talk. I know I have to convince my body that I'm serious about this deficit thing, lol!

@changewewanttosee , WELCOME! that's a great goal! I worked on my morning walking last month, and getting that habit established is super helpful. I love your user name!

@hcoleman232 , Good going on the flossing. Amazing how a little hack can help. Visibility for the win.

May 10 - I came in way under calories, but I was so tired and hot 🥵 (it got to 104° and at this time of year I’m not ready to deal with that kind of weather).

    SummerSkier Posts: 5,743 Member

@77tes OH MY GOODNESS that is WAY too hot for May. We are currently in a cooler than normal set of days but I see next week it is supposed to be over 100 also. Brutal. Normally we don't get that until July.

@hcoleman232 well done on the flossing. I agree that keeping things IN SIGHT is a great reminder

Balancing done this morning. I think one of the keys may be to prepare for it a little more than just jump right in. Stand a little with weight on one foot but other foot on the ground for a few seconds. I am curious to see if I keep this up for a month or more whether I will feel more stable in general. I wear slip on sandals a lot and find to put one on or the other I typically try to hold on to a chair or bureau or something. I would like to not have to.

Preparing for your tree pose is a good idea @SummerSkier. Putting on shoes without support would be a nice way to track the progress of your improved balance.  Fortunately, the weather has cooled off, so maybe I’ll be able to convince myself to cook.

great day yesterday a good walk at lunch I plan to walk each day this week except Friday as Saturday is the Honor Walk for our local veterans making the trip to DC.

I have been working with my guitars more and forgot how even 20 minutes can be relaxing

Hi All! So after almost 2 weeks I am probably going to have to rethink my habit. I like doing the tree pose but I am not sure that just doing that is really the best approach to working on balance. I am going to do some internet searches for exercises for adults to help balance and see if adding those in to the program will help with the "result" in the tree pose.

Doing other exercises is a good way to improve your balance. @SummerSkier ! I keep seeing balance exercises on instagram and want to send them, but I don’t think I can do that in MFP.

Another good walk at lunch knees a bit sore but making sure to wear my offloader brace sometimes I really don’t like the brace but I have been using it more in exercise as it reduces the after pain I guess it could be worse

more balance today. Have not started alternate ex types yet but I did manage to go a step further this morning. At the end of the session on each side I was able to close my eyes for a few seconds. That like difficulty factor x2

@summerskier, good job keeping up the balance practice while looking for ways to augment it. Dancing has helped my balance so much (when I started dancing my balance was terrible).

@snowshoe072 Bravo on that good lunchtime walk and your plan for your 5k. Know we are cheering you on Friday. 📣

I did my second set of balance yesterday evening even tho I was binging… LOL. I was just so tired all day. Today is a new day. Glad I don't have to weigh in 😳🙃 Thank goodness mostly my binges are far and in between. (maybe 1 every other month or so)

Great walk! You must really be stepping out if you can get 2.5 miles during lunchtime. Good plan to rest Friday to be fresh for your 5K @snowshoe072

Thanks for being in my corner! @SummerSkier This is not going to be a smooth and easy ride to success. Definitely a bumpy road! I too have those binge days. I wonder what it is? Some days I can deal with life’s stresses, and others, I start eating and eating. Forgive yourself and move forward is the only remedy that I’ve found. So an evening session of balance is a great way to get that reset going.

May 15 -I really had to tweak my diary to stay under calories because I was planning to make Fettuccine Alfredo which is high calorie. Then I revamped my recipe, making it lighter(2% milk instead of cream) but was too lazy to create a new recipe in MFP. So I’ll bet I was well under.

Friday morning weigh-in was another source of disappointment 😵‍💫

I know I haven’t been cheating on my foods and I’ve been pretty active. Now is the time for me to imitate my puppy and keeping digging until I come up with success.

Have a great 5K today @snowshoe072 hope the weather is perfect!

@77tes I thought I wrote a post about losing "just" a little but it must have gone poof. I thought it would be fast in Jan when I started and wanted to drop about 5 because with age the dang middle was too fluffy again. But I also wanted to get stronger so I did not want to cut too much. It ended up taking 4 months to get where I wanted to be. But I did get stronger and run further than I had in years during that time so I think altho we are always impatient with the scale as long as you are making those great choices and sticking with counting carefully you will get there. HANG IN THERE.

Last night I just could not balance almost at all. I am best when I do it after my runs or walks because I guess my body is "warmed up". I am glad I picked this habit to start and altho I am not sure I can measure progress easily I do want to continue it forever even if it's not in the same form as I started the month. Something with balance at least one or 2 times per day.

@snowshoe072 Great job! The Whiskey Run 5k sounds like a good time. Free samples at the end?

@77tes It’s definitely discouraging when we work hard and don’t see the results we expect. Be kind to yourself; you’re doing great. Slow and steady for the win! BTW-I found the 2lbs you lost! Lol!

@SummerSkier This past week was a binge week for me with way too many extra calories in the diet from poor choices. Somehow eat more veggies turned into eat a container of ice cream instead! 😳 No treats on the shopping list this coming week.

Pros: So far so good with the flossing, but I did miss a day when I ran out of floss. Water intake was up. 👍🏻

Cons: Strength training was nonexistent and my diet was crappy.

Getting back in the groove will be my focus for the coming week.

Just finished my weekend 36 hour fast, this is my 4th weekend, and I am getting used to it. The results have been encouraging, and I feel more energized, both during and post fast. I am struggling with a rotator cuff injury that has limited my exercise options. I start physiotherapy this coming week, twice a week for six weeks. This is my second go around with a rotator cuff injury, the first one was in 2008, and took weeks to heal, hopefully this recovery will be faster, but it is frustrating nonetheless. Wishing everyone a great week!
