    1. My goal for this month (This May I will...)

    • Drink more water daily. I don't get in my recommended water at all. I try, but I always fall short.

    2. The small, actionable steps I plan to take towards this goal

    • I will keep track of my water intake daily. I may not be able to drink 119 oz every day, but I'll track it.

    3. My reminder or cue to keep up with my habit

    • I'll have a bottle water by my bedside and upon waking up I'll start drinking it

    5. My reward for maintaining the habit (anything from a self-compliment to a mark on the calendar)

    • Being well hydrated is the reward for me

    6. How can we support you? N/A

    7. What will success look like at the end of May?

    • Being consistent in keeping track of my water intake

@kizzyann1111, Welcome to the habit Ninjas 🥷. Hydration is so important, so increasing your water intake is a great habit! Tracking your intake is a great way to make yourself accountable. I use a 24 oz. refillable water bottle, but I do lose track of whether this is my second or third refill.

@snowshoe072 , Great job on that 5k! Bravo 🙌 Well under an hour! 🏃‍♀️ I love that you’ve got another 5k lined up for next month. 😍

@hcoleman232 , Yay for flossing success. 👏 I find this time of year very hard, so many things to do. Strength training is hard to squeeze in, I’m sure you’ll be back at it soon.

@SummerSkier , thanks for the encouragement. I remember your post very well, and it’s excellent advice. I’m Hanging In There!

Balance is tricky and being warmed up is probably the best way to see a better result. Still, I dare say practice when you are not in your best form is just a useful - only a bit more discouraging.

@Interbeing , Whoot whoot for another 36 hour fast. So impressive. I should probably try fast to get through this plateau. I’m not ready to be that brave. I’m sorry about the shoulder, you seem to be staying plenty active in spite of your limitations. I’m glad you are getting  todo PT, I’m a huge fan of it.

I’m way behind on posting, but I’m still sticking to my goals.

May Focus: I am working on leg strength and flexibility this Month. I have been suffering from heel pain in my right foot in the mornings, so have been trying to alleviate that. I think that my duvet has been pressing down on my foot and allowing my plantar fasciitus to shorten during the night. I am doing exercises and have devised a prop in bed to stop the duvet pressing down on my foot. It seem to be doing the trip.

    Cue 1: Getting into bed.
Seedling Habit: Placing the prop in position.
Reward: So far, the reward has been a lack of pain.
    Wk 1: 😃; Wk2: 😃; Wk3: 😃

Cue 2: Wake up in the morning.
Seedling Habit: Do 10 minutes of physio.
    Reward: Lack of pain.
    Wk 1: 😃; Wk2: 😃; Wk3: 😃

@TerriRichardson112 sorry your plantar fasciitis is playing you up, I’ve had that and it’s so painful. It made me feel decrepit. I had the nicest chat with my dentist about it. , He’s a tennis enthusiast so very into happy feet. He suggested a boot for sleeping to keep my foot flexed - it helped a lot. That and stretching, which is what your I’m sure you are diligent about. Of course, the boot made it so I couldn’t sleep, so your prop is a better solution. Lack of pain is a good motivator! Hooray for 3 weeks of battling pain with props and physio.  👏

    @SummerSkier Well balanced! 🙌

The whole toes pressed down thing is really scary. My first understanding of this happened when my father was in the hospital for a long time with heart surgery and he ended up with drop foot. Since then I am very aware of making sure my feet are not confimed with the toes down. Terri I think your solution is great!

Still checking in and doing my balancing. I maybe sense some improvement but not consistent and probably not measurable. Will just keep on keepin on with it. Like the flossing. LOL.

@77tes you are doing great! Hope that this week the scale shows more of your hard work paying off.

    FIngers crossed!

I did my balancing yesterday but I was awful in both sessions and felt hurried and out of sorts most of the day so I am guessing that is what's going on. Heading into a long weekend here and a lot of folks will be out at work today so I hope it is quiet.

And I need to sign up with a new dentist. The one I went to in 2020 after my previous dentist of over 25 yrs retired is pretty much completely retired and his office is VERY expensive even with my insurance. I don't see the need to go there since he was the main reason. I have 2 recommendations so I will start with one next month exam and cleaning and go from there. If I am not happy I can try the other one early next year I guess. Both are a lot closer and I am guessing a lot closer to insurance coverage than the "dental spa" my current retiring dentist is in. I suppose my dr of over 30 years will be retiring next… sigh.

which means a REAL drop this time and not just that initial one we always get. Congrats @77tes you have really stuck it out so far.

I woke up with my right ankle hurting so badly I could not even walk. I don't remember hurting it, and it was fine at midnight when I got up. This happened once a few weeks ago and it walked out pretty quickly.
💡💡💡 there is no swelling or anything in my ankle but the pain is severe and sharp. L5 vertebrae must be upset. Hopefully it goes away with movement too. I must have slept funny… damn this getting older thing is tricky to manage and evaluate. The referred pains are the worst.

Yes thank you @77tes I knew you would do it. 👏👏👏💪I think that making up your mind at the beginning of the day helps.
I am enjoying the extra day and since i am taking friday off this week it will be a short crammed up week at work starting tomorrow but the LAST week in May? How did that happen. 😳
Continuing my balance work daily and hoping I can make it a habit to continue on. Have to start thinking about June soon I guess.
I also upped my game on the flossing. Instead of just making sure I was working on every gap I also decided to make sure that I did the wrap around technique on at least 2 or 3 teeth each time. I am trying to break the bad habit of just sawing quickly thru my teeth by focusing on doing a thorough job.

@SummerSkier good going on upping your game on both the balance and flossing!  I saw on instagram a suggestion to stand on one leg while brushing your teeth to improve balance, so maybe you could combine balance with flossing.

Yes, I’m starting to consider what to do in June.

@SummerSkier We all have off days. That’s why we build rest days or pass days into our schedules. Be kind to yourself. And I’m with you on the wondering what will go next.

@77tes You should be proud of yourself. You are doing such a good job.

I’ve been somewhat busy, but I’m still sticking to my goals. I’m having an extended weekend, so catching up on my Healthy Habits buddies before my day starts. I had a bit of a fall yesterday. Nothing broken, but knees are tender. Also thinking ahead to June. Leaning towards working on overall flexibility. It can’t do any harm 😝

May Focus: I am working on leg strength and flexibility this Month. I have been suffering from heel pain in my right foot in the mornings, so have been trying to alleviate that. I think that my duvet has been pressing down on my foot and allowing my plantar fasciitus to shorten during the night. Cue 1: Getting into bed.
Seedling Habit: Placing the prop in position.
This has been such a success that it is now one of my givens at bedtime.
    Wk 1: 😃; Wk2: 😃; Wk3: 😃 Wk4 😃

Cue 2: Wake up in the morning.
Seedling Habit: Do 10 minutes of physio.
Reward: Lack of pain. This has worked a treat. I now have a tracker sheet on my desk to make sure I do this.
    Wk 1: 😃; Wk2: 😃; Wk3: 😃.

@TerriRichardson112 that is GREAT news that you have nipped that heel pain away and found a successful way to keep it from returning.😀

Yesterday was pretty good. I like the idea of combining flossing and balance @77tes 😂😂😂 Habit stacking. Yesterday I combined balance with cat playing. ALmost as good. I have some high shelves in one of the spare bedrooms and my cat loves to climb the ladder up there and retrieve the pipe cleaners I throw for her. Then she comes down and drags them around the house yowling until dropping them at my feet for me to take them back and throw them on the shelves again. Good exercise for us both. Sometimes she is smart enough to bring 2 or even 3 at a time. LOL.

@TerriRichardson112 , oh falls are scary! 🫣 Still I’ll bet all your healthy habits means you are only bruised and not broken! Glad your habit is helping with the foot pain!
Lack of pain is a superb reward!

@SummerSkier , I love your game with your kitty! Fun for both of you! Addi in a little balance and it doesn’t get any better!

@77tes lovely photo and HAPPY Anniversary! Sorry about the plumbing issues but hope they are resolved.

Of course we will finish strong. I started my LAST calorie reduction (well significant one) on 29 May 2017. I have had some ups and downs small but overall I like to review where I am on that day. Hard to believe it has been 8 years. Balance continues to be my focus this month and I hope to continue with that indefinitely and see what June brings to mind.

Yes, indeed! Finishing May strong! This month has really helped me reset my brain/appetite, so that I can be satisfied with fewer calories on active days. Yay!

@snowshoe072 I’m so glad you’re enjoying the assist bike for mountain biking! Hooray for easy on the knees. I love how you have winter sports and summer sports. 🤩Active lifestyle for the win! Congrats on 36 years, blink and you’ll be at 48!
