Holding steady. I was hoping for a reduction before we leave for OR, but I guess not.
Kelly, wow. You are really getting hit with a lot of stress and frustration. . and I really feel for you. The process of finding a house, the hope when you make an offer, and the let down when it doesn't work (and 4 times!) is such an emotional roller coaster, and then add the time crunch with that, and more life stress (teenage boys!) and I feel it for you. I'm so sorry . . I wish there was something I could do from here to ease it. We're here for your venting, and don't forget we are older (especially me, lol) and can offer old lady advice if you want any 😆 . . Try to find a way to laugh or at least smile at something every day. If nothing else, the stress of life is absurd. Lately, I've been watching stand up comedians on Netflix because the news . . 😒 I will also send positive house finding vibes your way, and hope for Shawn's foot pain to ease.
Sarah, it sounds like your follow-up appointments have been kind of a mess. I guess the bright spot is that the treatments are behind you, and it's all just follow-up and making sure. So, that's good. I hope all the hassles clear up and it's all behind you soon!
Lois, I hope you're taking care of yourself and getting to all of your health and PT appointments. I know work is always there, and it has to get a lot of your attention. And, have fun in DL over Memorial Day.
We've been dealing with up and down weather here, too. We were out over the weekend at a park with kids and grands and golfing in shorts, and now today our house heat is on and it looks like snow in the mountains! My sinuses are going crazy. My hubby has been dealing with up and down blood pressure, at times making him tired and dizzy, and then irritable with headache. He has two meds for it, took one away to get his BP up, and now needs to add it back to get it down. Ugh. I'm going to have to get him back to his doctor for some answers. And, Sarah, I also know how a man in pain is. For, myself, I'm feeling pretty good other than running sinuses and allergies, so fingers crossed.

Well, it looks like a little movement in the desired direction, but honestly, the week again has been a rollercoaster with a low of 129.4 and a high of 131.6. I just never know. It's my well acknowledged 3- pound arch.My steps were a little low again this week (9,897) because once again, I had pretty bad fatigue on two days. I really need to get my walking in earlier in the day, as the fatigue generally hits in the afternoon and evening, but I've so much going on that that has not been happening. And I'm still struggling to get a 7-day average kcal burn over 1700 (1,630).
Tonight I have my volunteer appreciate dinner, which will be a nice break from routine. Tomorrow, I have to go pick up a CD and deliver it to the colon surgeon's office. My appointment with him is on Tuesday. And of course, I have class tomorrow and will be instructing. Today, I'm still waiting on a call back regarding a mammogram and I've done some due diligence on other radiology groups if the one my doc sent the order to just can't come through. I just cannot wait another couple of months! Trouble with contacting any speciality practice is that it's hard to just get to ask how far out they are booking. Most will not even talk to you until they get a referral order. I might have to tap my expensive concierge primary care practice and ask THEM to make these calls. Oy vay! I will be so glad to get beyond both surgeon appointments.
Meantime, my great-niece in NC is not doing well. Yesterday, they kept her sedated all day. I think she has just days to go. My brother-in-law's family has been hit so hard with one niece going through breat cancer treatment last year, one niece dying from the flu in December, and now this. Life is tough, but it's tougher when everything comes in a short timeframe.
But on a happier note, we have a celebration party to attend in Pennsylvania on Saturday for my neighbor's son, who was confirmed in the Catholic faith this week. As an on-the-lam Protestant, I don't know a lot about this, but I know it's something that means a lot to his mom, dad, and grandmothers. The ride up should be nice and frankly, it will be good to just get out of this area for an afternoon. And we got hammered with rain yesterday, so the new lawn is being watered without us having to do it. (My water bill is going to be out of sight until this lawn takes full root!)Kelly, I've continued to think of you and send you good thoughts. Lois, hope you daughter is still doing well and that your energy level is continuing to improve. You always have so much on your calendar!
Sheesh, when I'm stewing about hubby and his pain, I think of you—knowing your hubby also has back issues. The rain has given us at least a short reprieve from the pollen. Hope it's getting some better out your way, too. Last night I watched an episode of Rock the Block that was filmed outside SLC, so of course, I was thinking of you. It was apparently filmed in the early fall. I'm getting tired of all these HGTV competition shows, but it was something to try to take my mind off how tired my legs were and how much I didn't feel like getting on the TM. And I'm saying goodbye day by day to my old buddy. The new TM, which I've named Dolvet, after the trainer on Biggest Loser, arrives in two more days. I just don't want to watch as it goes out the door. I'm bad about personifying objects. (And so I name them, LOL!)
Well, back to making phone calls. Take care everyone.0 -

Some updates:
- The fires got worse :( 2 people lost their lives because they were trapped at their cabin with emergency personnel not able to get them in time. A woman and man with 2 sons. The man worked for the same company as I do and my Dad worked with him years ago. So tragic. The area where our cabin is, is still ok. So far 28 homes and cabins have been lost. We got a bit of rain there last night, which is helping out a lot, but we need much more. There are 22 fires burning in our province and 5 of them are out of control. Its crazy. So many people affected. It'll be the first time I've said Bring on the Rain for May long weekend.
- We're going to look at 2 other houses this weekend, but they are in a town that we didn't really consider living in until now. We have to be out of our house in 40 days….and with the uncertainty of the cabin, we can't rely on living there. The housing market is so crazy here. The 4 offers we put in were all at least 35k over asking, with no luck.
- Hubby's feet are doing better… fingers crossed.
- Had to take our son to the walk-in this week too as he thought he had strep throat. They did the test but we haven't heard back yet. At least they gave him penicillin and it seems to be helping. He's going back to school today and work. He graduates at the end of June!
Sarah - I'm so sorry to hear about your great niece. Life is too short :( I was happy to read that you are back instructing your courses again… and that you are getting Dolvet! Sometimes change is good, it just takes some time to get used to.
Thanks ladies for your thoughts and prayers. I can really feel you thinking of us from afar.

Oh, my Kelly. Many thoughts and prayers for all people in Manitoba who are being affected by these fires. I read an article about the couple who lost their lives. That is so tragic. One of hubby's friends lost her home to fire about a week ago. She got out but lost her dog to smoke inhalation and has had to rehome her cat because she cannot keep it where she is now staying. We've donated money to a go-fund-me that someone started for her, which will help, but the pets, her memories—it's just too much to comprehend. I hope whoever took her kitty will give it back once she is resettled. She lives far away from us, so we don't know a lot of details, just that the home is a total loss. I am praying that the rains will increase and that your cabin will be safe. And I hope that the house hunt is fruitful. Glad Shawn's foot is improving and I hope your son recovers quickly. It feels like colds, sore throats, and such should be going away now that spring is here, but they're still around. The county executive was not able to attend our volunteers' dinner the other night because he came with Covid.
I've spent the past several days trying to arrange and rearrange medical appointments. Some have been shifted three times because one affects another. I've been juggling days and times for a mammogram, the breast surgeon, the colon surgeon, the dentist, the ophthalmologist, and my primary care doc. I just keep saying to myself, "be nice, be patient." With two appointments I think I actually got more help than I might have otherwise because the staff members I talked to were also women who have had breast cancer. One shared that she, like me, was told that the mammogram showed a benign calcification, the biopsy showed a benign encapsulated something or the other, and it wasn't until the lump was removed that it was identified as cancer. So I urge any woman with a lump to not hesitate about having it taken out.
Well, the TM folks are here. I'm both happy and sad. I had hubby make a couple of photos of me on my old faithful last night as I was getting in my last run with her.😢 I don't want to watch them take her out piece by piece, so I came up here to log food and check for posts. We're going out to dinner with friends tonight and they want to go early (5:30), so I'm glad that I'll have "Dolvet" to walk on when we get back since walking after sundown won't work out. It's very hot and muggy today, so walking outside before sundown is not a good idea. But I'm afraid of the shock of seeing a bigger, different piece of equipment. It usually takes me a week or so to get used to anything new. Drives hubby crazy!

Happy Monday ladies. I'm back from my daughter's. She's slowly recovering but well enough that I could leave her (really truly did not want to - might go back). Anyhow Saturday on my way home I stopped and shopped at Disneyland for the newly released 70th anniversary merchandise. I ended up getting two lockers at one park as I crossed over to the other park and finished. I will never do that again when solo. I had six large and heavy bags. Because of the cups and straws, I had 9 water bottles (they are HEAVY) and five bags of popcorn with my purchases. I did give away two buckets of popcorn and my DIL was super happy I brought her the other 3 (which she enjoyed last night when they visited). FOUR water bottles were given to strangers as I thanked them for taking them and lightening my baggage… Water is $4.75/bottle, but I could not carry it with everything else I bought. I made it to the parking lot bus with about 4 stops (it's not THAT long of a walk, just to give an idea of how heavy they were (I should have left a few in the lockers and made two trips). Thankfully I made a friend as we waited for the bus and she helped me carry them all of the way to my car - which was FAR! Then drove the six hours to get home and made it home by 7:30 and the sun was just starting to set. THREE HOURS shopping… ugh. I'm tired. Rhea and her family came to visit yesterday because we are leaving again Thursday night for Memorial day weekend for DL (Rhea is going to Knott's Berry Farm). I'm meeting my OK friend tonight for dinner while they are in town. Rhea graduates Kinder on Wednesday so I'm taking the day with her. Then we're off again. I'm so so tired. Have I mentioned how tired I am? LOL.
Daughter's surgery went well and she is slowly walking. I did take her out for lunch a few days before I left. The car ride hurt some but her mood and disposition greatly improved, so she said she'd rather have the slight pain after than stay in the house. She wants to go see her horses, but the road up there will kill her stomach - she can barely handle the regular streets and minor bumps. Hoping she'll be able to go up there in a couple of weeks. She does have her in laws living with her and short and sweet - her FIL is a butthead and causes a lot of frustration and anger - so not helpful to her recovery. I wanted to bring her home with me this week and have her hubby pick her up from us on Friday, but she was not up to travelling and not enough rx left to help… that's how yucky it is for her right now. But she will get better faster - I'm sure. And I told her we would pick her up and bring her back with us on Monday if she wants.
Sorry I haven't caught up on your posts and I will…just wanted to touch base quickly. Even though I only took two PTO days of the 17 I was there, I am still swamped from this past weekend. And several meetings today due to several people taking days off for graduations and early holiday weekend (just like me) so three workdays to get 7 days of work done..lol.
Hugs to all
