Before anyone ways "way to go!", let me tell you that the way that 1.4 pounds came off is NOT the way you want it to! It has been a very trying week. After I posted the last time (last Thursday), I realized that my lower tummy was again feeling sore. So knowing a holiday weekend was coming up, I called my colon surgeon to ask if I should start on antiobiotics. He said to go on liquids and give it a day, but if I ran into serious trouble, he'd be on call Saturday and Sunday. So Thursday, I did liquids, but it wasn't much better on Friday. So I started the antiobiotics because my delaying doing that in December is what I think started all this serious trouble. Saturday seemed a bit better so I transitioned to soft foods. Sunday, I felt icky all day but thought I should just give the antiobiotics time to work. However, by Monday night, I was getting a little scared realizing that my tendency to think of other people first got me into this mess and so even though I didn't want to do it on the holiday weekend, I called the surgeon's office.

My surgeon, who is super nice, was no longer on call. His partner was. (He is not as nice!) He said that the only thing he could recommend was liquids and meds, which I was already doing, and he said that my surgeon had left town that day, would be gone all this week, and that there was no way he could see me this week. So I asked if I should contact my gastroenterologist and he said no, that like him, he could only suggest what I was already doing and that if my pain got really bad, I should go to the ER. I asked if the two docs could do nothing more, what would the ER do, and he said take a CT scan and check to see if there were complications requiring heavier antibiotics. Well I knew that I'd be in the ER all night, considering it was Memorial Day, so I just toughed it out, and called my Primary Care doc's office yesterday. Long story short, it's quite a bit better today, and my PCP's nurse told me I can not just live on liquids until June 30, so to try adding some soft foods again. Thankfully that seems to have actually helped. I know it's odd to say this, but I will be glad to have this surgery because I cannot keep dealing with diverticulitis.

As you might expect my 7-day averages are down: Steps = 8,599; kcals burned = 1,628. I think that's pretty good considering that on Monday, I didn't even hit 2k steps and I had to forego my class yesterday. But like I said, it feels like I've come around the bend. I am so unused to hurting or being sick (and the meds cause nausea) that it's hard to wrap my head around how I could be so healthy for so long and just have the wheels fall off. But all I can do is put on my big girl panties and deal with it.

Hope everyone else is doing fine and had some holiday fun. I am truly looking forward to your posts!

Sarah - So sorry to hear what you're going through with the diverticulitis! I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but my Mom also deals with these attacks and cannot figure out what causes them. The pain must be absolutely unbearable. Please know I'm thinking of you.

We bought a house! Sorry I haven't had the time to post. These past couple weeks have been nuts. We're moving to a town just outside our city called La Salle. It's a 13 minute drive from our current house. Super excited, especially having a house to live in lol It's a 1600 sq ft bungalow built in 2022. It needs a fence still in the backyard and a deck and the basement is unfinished, but we're going with it. Lawyer meetings tomorrow afternoon as we are supposed to take possession on June 1. The house is vacant, so we knew they'd want to get it to us asap to avoid paying more. The house was only on the market for 3 hours when we saw it and we were the 1st ones to view it.. and the only ones. ☺️ So busy with our bank, insurance, internet changes, address changes, etc. The day before we bought our house, we got word the evacuation notice was lifted for our cabin as well. There are still raging fires, but we seem to be safe where we are. We went there this past weekend and it was smoky in the morning and at night the ash would start falling, but it didn't smell smoky inside.

So, on top of moving, we have to clean the new house, clean the current house, move all our services, have a family grad party for our son, have 2 nights of grad events, and our daughter is starting drivers ed. Woooo I may not make it lol

I'm sorry if I don't get to post often lately. Work is nuts at the same time as my worker is leaving on maternity leave shortly so I've had to post for her position again and deal with all of that. Plus our employees have been working tons because of the fires and getting peoples power back on. Our province is scary right now, so many fires. Lots of evacuated communities. It's very sad.

Ok. gotta get back to work. I will do my best to touch base more often.

I'm very happy with that small reduction in light of Memorial Day weekend. We stuck around here, going to our daughter's place 40 minutes south for a Bar-B-Q on Monday. We played golf on a 9 hole Sunday, 3 par course (super easy) and . . . I did beat hubby 😜 We had fun! We also saw a movie "Mission Impossible" on Saturday. The action parts were good . . too long and convoluted though, in my opinion.

Sarah, my gosh, I'm so sorry you're having this pain with diverticulitis. And it seems so unfair that it's happening right after your treatments for your breast, but the "wheels" aren't falling off. You're very fit . . . I'm amazed at how many steps you're still getting in spite of it. And aren't you glad that you're in good shape going through all of these challenges? I'm sending you healing thoughts and I hope you're not in pain, and will get feeling better until you get that surgery done. 💗

Kelly, I said "hurray" out loud when I read your post! Congratulations on the new house. I'm very happy for you and Shawn, and it sounds perfect. I love bungalow style houses. I live in a house that's main level living with a finished basement, and it suits us great. And, I'm so relieved your cabin is safe from those awful fires. Your work colleague leaving adds so much too. I'm sure you're beyond busy, so I appreciate you thinking of us here at all. Just know we're here virtually supporting you!

Lois, I'm wondering if you're in DL? I hope your daughter continues with good recovery from her surgery. You're a busy lady also! I hope you're feeling good, having fun, and taking some time for self care.

    I'll check back tomorrow.

Happy Thursday. I'm treading water…lol. After so much travel the past couple of months, I am staying home until July. Thanks for the good thoughts. Disneyland was fun as always. It was warm 75 (felt like 95 and 100% humidity). I had to take afternoon breaks at the hotel and shower to cool down. We did a couple of the tours and they were fun. One was the Railroad Tour and we got to ride in the Lillybelle car (which is off limits to regular guests). And take pics with the engineer and the firer. It was a great weekend. Monday, we went in quickly for a couple of hours and then headed down to see my daughter. Physically she's recovering well, still tender and not comfortable driving. Her hubby did take her to see her horses, and she admitted that the drive was rough and she will try again in another week (not days). Her FIL is still a pain, but she's feeling like she can handle him better. We had a nice lunch with them and then hit the road about 330. I drove the first couple of hours. We topped off when we stopped, so we continued on straight to home without another stop at state line. Got in about 930. I took Tuesday off so I did laundry and attempted to recover. This traveling so much is EXHAUSTING. Thankfully when we packed we had one suitcase that was laundry and the clean stuff remains packed!! Maybe Saturday. Back to work on Wednesday and I had to go into the office for most of the day…more driving - ugh. Anyhow, I'm back at my desk this morning at home and working hard to catch up.

Kelly - WOOT WOOT!!!! So happy you guys found a new home. What a relief that must be. And super happy that the cabin is safe. Work will always be crazy busy. I think you're like me that you just don't stop and give it all you have when you're at your desk as well. And Ella is getting a permit??? did I misread that?!?!?!? WOW. You have so much going on - please remember a little self care - even if it's a bubble bath.

Sheesh - you are amazing with all that you do. And you beat hubby!!! I love when that happens (even if it's only Buzz Lightyear for me - which it wasn't but when I do - I LOVE IT). I'll wait for Netflix or Prime for Mission Impossible. The action is always amazing and I agree, sometimes the story line is a stretch. So I love when I can do other things while watching those movies.

Sarah praying for you girl!!! As Sheesh said, thankfully you're fit and overall healthy. Imagine if you weren't and how much more of a challenge your experiences would be. Super thankful to you gals for keeping me going and wanting to get/stay fit again.

Well report is done running so I need to jump back to work. Hang in there everyone!

First, Kelly, I am so happy you got the house. I know that's a load off your mind. And we all know that with all the things you have to do when you move, busy work, kid graduating, etc., that it's not easy to find time to post. But I'm so glad that you do take a few minutes here and there to keep us updated.

And thanks to everyone for the well wishes and concern about my belly! It's still sore and I'm still dealing with nausea from the meds, but I made it class today and did pretty good. I am just so tired of this and especially tired of not being able to eat normally. But I don't think that will change anytime soon, so I'm working on acceptance. The nurse from the hospital pre-op just called and moved my pre-op and nutritionist appointment forward for a week because she didn't realize the nutritionist will be on leave the week originally planned. Wish I could get her input sooner—but, oh well!

Sheesh, I'm trying to get on Dolvet and walk slowly for a little bit every day because my tummy actually feels better when I do that, and it also helps keep my mind from straying into scary territory. As a friend once said, "When I'm in my mind, I'm behind the enemy line."😁 And I knew you'd have a better golf score than your hubby the next time you played. Know that I'm still envious of your arm muscles, which I know golf also helps. I need to concentrate on building more upper body strength, but know that I can't do much until surgery and recovery. Hope your sinuses are better, too. We have had unseasonably cold, wet weather this month. Just heard we have gotten more than 7 inches of rain so far in May. That has been making it difficult to get outdoor movement, but at least it has helped with the pollen. And hope your hubby's BP is leveling off.

Lois, hope your daugher is still doing well and that work is not too crazy. Did you make a decision about the car, chef, etc.? I have to admit that making decisions is often tough for me. I do all the "what iffing."

Well, need to see if I can get a few things done today.

Sarah - still working on the new car option. We have the detailer coming tomorrow. The new car is still in transit so I don't have an the official delivery date yet. If it's going to be more than $20k, we have to seriously think about it. That will mean no more chef as that money will cover the car payment. And I just hate thinking of having a car payment again as I replenish our savings account as well. I don't like to have a debt that I'm not comfortable paying off each month. If I hadn't just spent $20k on the new HVAC, I wouldn't be in such a dilemma. Hubby says go for it….I'm the more cautious one.

WELP!!!! I have a new car payment. Not sure I made the best "financial" decision, but we sure do love the new car (and overlooked some items that we no longer have on the new car - but still love it). We got the 25 Toyota Grand Highlander Max Platinum hybrid. And man that max hybrid engine rivals the v6 we had in our trade in. I cancelled he new car, and then decided I wanted to see how the numbers played out with trade in and interest rates (without seeing the car first). And the sales guy was prepared and beat me. He had the new car waiting for us just as we pulled in…UGH. I wanted to do numbers and not become attached to the beautiful car. AND, in the time they had it (Thursday afternoon) they had used it for many test drives. It already had 300 miles on it. SHEEZ…almost as if they drove it from the manufacturing plant in Indiana! Haha. Anyhow, too much bantering and negotiating. I wanted the car but despised dealing with the finance manager. I also learned, after the fact, the dealership had been sold to a larger corporation and so the loyalty buyers have ZERO negotiating room. Even with a 780 score, no 0% interest rates on the Grand Highlander. Apparently we're not the only ones who want that vehicle and they had another buyer waiting in the wings (and possibly on property at the same time - lol). As my daughter says, I'm blessed for this to be my problem. Anyhow, I'm committed now!!! I don't think I would have gotten anything different had I paid cash. Again, blessed I'm able to even have this problem. And truly, this is the first vehicle we've bought, just because we wanted it. All other vehicles either the prior one was too $$ to repair or totaled in an accident (or in the case of the others we bought in 2022, resulting in fear from the accident hubby had been in).

Our weekend was hot, muggy and rainy!!! Too miserable to go outside at all. And I'm still exhausted from travel. I wonder how long this is going to drag on. I did a few things around the house yesterday…even meal prepped. Prepared snacking veggies and bought hummus. I even cooked beef bulgogi and rice for dinner. Have more beef and corn to make burgers for tonight and tomorrow as well. I've paused the chef until September to see how the car payment impacts our lifestyle (plus we're planning some trips to visit our aging auntie in San Diego soon). Today I'm still feeling groggy and draggy. I start back with my trainer next Tuesday. Hoping I feel better by then.
