My heart, prayers and thoughts are with you Sarah. Keep us updated. We're here for you.

I had my first appointment with the bariatric team yesterday. It was just an intro meeting discussing the process, protocol, expectations and start thinking of goals and small goals. They use an app - baritastic - very similar to MFP but connected to them and the team can review and observe what we're doing. They also have several "group meetings" via Teams. The timing interferes with my trainer appointments as currently scheduled, but I'm hoping I can adjust my sessions to begin at 6pm on those days and I can listen to the last part of the meeting on my way… I am to use the app now and start the meal planning etc. I meet with the dietician next month, the PA in August and back to the doc in Sept and then I dunno. But it's a launching point. Doc has held off ordering new bloodwork as I have my annual appointment in July. He said after the first three months we'll review, assess and set new goals.

Woke up this morning with a touch of vertigo - so disruptive to the point that I had to cancel my in-office meeting today. It's settled a bit, but did not feel safe driving as looking left made the world swirly.

Kelly - hoping you're moving and planning is settling down. I think your moving was coming up soon…

Sheesh - can't wait for your updates. You're always so upbeat and encouraging.

My heart is broken for you Sarah. . thinking about you many, many times a day. And, thank you again, Lois.

Well, another increase for me. I'm just not feeling focused lately at all. And I don't have a lot as far as upbeat, but I do have an interesting story that happened to me today. I had my long hair appointment for color and cut. The salon is in a building on a busy corner of Salt Lake, and it's on the second floor above a FedEx on the main (2 story building). He was just finishing up my hair with trimming / styling, when a huge police officer came into my stylists room, and said we all had to evacuate the building immediately! Everyone hurried outside . . there were police everywhere, 2 fire trucks, firemen, women in capes with foils in their hair, more sirens on the way. . I heard a cop say something about "getting into the lobby there", indicating a retirement community next door. I thought they must be looking for someone. They let me leave in my car, but the roads were blocked, so I had a hard time getting home another way. Later my stylist texted me: "A woman was attempting to mail a suspicious package to the president … They had to check it for explosives or drugs or whatever, but we're back in the salon now." Kind of over-the-top response . . what do you think? I didn't even get my full comb out, and no hairspray, lol!

Lois, I'm glad you're getting your self care on your schedule. Next step is to follow through and to focus on yourself, which is really hard for we women.

Anyway, trainer tomorrow morning. Will try to check back later.

WOW. That was a - who needs a coffee this morning update…😐️ But that is the state of our world lately. Any pkg being mailed to any sitting president seems to be cause for major alarm - panic. I don't recall which president was in office when maybe a birthday card was mailed, but the glitter or stuff inside was anthrax or thought to be something like it? Our world is crazy crazy at the moment. BTW - your stylist got paid tho right?? 🤣 And I'm with you on emotions and focus at the moment.

I have my trainer tonight - and she texted to confirm, so now I'm really committed.. lol I did begin reading through the "homework" from the bariatric team last night and had begun logging my meals into the app. I've gotta go back to brewing my own coffee - the bottled coffee still has sugars. As it didn't have cream I did not read the ingredients or nutritional content. But they are convenient for my mornings. I had also prepared bacon and sausages to go with eggs, but I've been so draggy in the mornings, that I am not allowing myself time to cook, so I'm reaching for the frozen breakfast burritos. I'm still so tired and fatigued. I'm still not sleeping well - even with the addition of zzQuill. work has started our summer Fridays (off at noon unless something urgent is needed). So I need to take that time tomorrow to put together a good meal plan for next week and ie make my own homemade breakfast burritos etc.

Prayers continue for you and your family Sarah!

Sarah - I can't stop thinking about you and your family. So terribly sorry you're going through this and just know you're in our hearts and thoughts. I hope that during this time you’re still able to somewhat focus on your health and mental wellbeing as well. I know it can be difficult during times like these.

Sheesh - My first thought as I was reading your story was.. what happened to the ladies with foil in their hair?!?! lol 🤪 It's funny because I had my hair appointment on Monday and the thought crossed my mind, what if they forgot about me too long or if something happened and I didn't get my foils out in time. Would my hair just burn right off lol That's pretty crazy! All cause someone wanted to mail something to the pres. The owners of the salon may want to consider moving locations lol I'm sure people try mail shady stuff all the time.

Such a cute picture of you and the kiddos at the festival! You look sooo happy 😊

Lois – Your new vehicle looks awesome!!! Vehicles are definitely never the best “financial” decision, but they are somewhat of a necessity in life, depending on where you live and work, so we may as well have one we like. And the pic of those veggies looks so delicious. How come they never look like that in my fridge lol And that’s fantastic about meeting with the bariatric team and deciding to go that route. Pretty cool that they even have apps and group meetings via Teams to help get you through all stages of it.

We are in a state of chaos and limbo lol That seems to be our life for the past year. I sure hope it starts to even out once the move is done. Right now we are still living at our old house as we have it until the 26th, but we have been slowly moving stuff into the new house as we got it on the 1st. So that’s where the limbo comes in. Tomorrow we have the internet being installed at the new house, so that is officially going to the be date we’re living there. We have mattresses, a sectional, lots of kitchen stuff and food, some clothes, bathroom stuff, and some smaller items here and there to move over as well. Tomorrow was supposed to be the day to move everything, but Shawn’s foot is sore yet again. So frustrating for him but also for me, which he understands and feels bad about. I just need to get him to go back to his doctor and demand to be referred to a specialist. Our health care system sucks. He’s been a few times with no results, so I’m trying to convince him it’s time just to pay to go to this foot care clinic I read about. Then on Sunday, we have a BBQ/pool party at his sister’s house, as she’s hosting a grad party for our son. So nice of her since we’re in the middle of moving and his Mom’s house is too small to host. Then Monday, the movers come for some bigger/heavier items – a few dressers, a fridge, a freezer, our old treadmill that we’re not sure is going to make it lol and Monday afternoon we have our laywer appointment for closing on our old house. On the 23 we have Tyler’s grad, then the 24 we have his grad dinner…. It’s sooooo much. I don’t normally wish time away but I can’t wait for June to be over. I can’t wait to be in our new house so we can create new routines and we can finally get back into a workout schedule and being able to buy more healthy groceries. So hard to live in a state of limbo.

The cabin is still doing good with the fires. The one that was really close to our place is mostly out now, just hot spots and the larger one seems to be moving away but is slowing down. Our country is in a state of emergency with all these forest fires. There are currently 21,000 people evacuated from theirs homes in our province. Sooo terribly sad.

Ok.. I’m at work so I better work. Love you all.

Yay Kelly. The bright side of your post - you can slow move into the new house - not just 3 days to move in/out and clean the old one. So that is a super positive. I guess it can also be a negative thinking you have all of this time, but that time gets allocated to other things. (That's another reason we've never sold our house. We moved from a rental to my MIL (new house didn't close on time - their new home was delayed), to our new house 45 days later, to AZ apartment six months later and then 9 months later into this house. I was done moving for the rest of my life after that chain. I'm still scarred.. lol). Congratulations to Tyler!!! So glad your cabin is still safe. Hopefully Shawn will attend to his toe asap. Sending positive thoughts to you guys!

Sarah - we're still thinking of you. We haven't heard from you in several days and just hoping life is manageable. Know we are all here to support you.

The good news: I did make it to my trainer last night. She pushed me. It was hard and I am feeling it. Not to the point of being unable to move again, but I definitely can feel what we did. we've also altered some of my appointments to accommodate the group sessions that are part of the program.

The not as good news: it just seems like God is on a tear at the moment. So many people have gone to his arms these past couple of weeks. Yesterday I was informed that the one sister in law that I'm not particularly fond of, was just diagnosed with lymphoma. I'm not really on good terms with my brother (for a multitude of good reasons) so it is difficult for me to reach out and find out more. I'm going through my younger brother (he's 6'2" and I'm only 5'2" so can's say little brother anymore - lol) for details and updates. Another of our cousins passed from cancer last week. Services are on Monday and unfortunately, I cannot adjust my work schedule next week. We have a slew of employees taking time off the next two weeks so we will be a skeletal crew.

When our auntie reached out to tell us about our cousin, we could hear and feel her sadness. She will be 92 this summer. Hubby and I have decided to visit the family over the Independence Day holiday. We've rented a two bedroom villa at a resort near my daughter. Rhea and her parents are going to come with us as well. We will celebrate the holiday with my daughter and SIL at the resort and then head to San Diego on Saturday to visit with Auntie. We'll head back home on Sunday morning. The resort was not much more than the Best Western nearby for two rooms. So we might as well enjoy some creature comforts. And there's room in the villa if my daughter wants an overnight away from her in-laws as well.

Hello all. As you can imagine, I have not logged food or exercised much since I got the bad news from NC last Thursday. I haven't even tried to keep up steps. I've spent more than 40 hours just sitting in a car in the last 5 days! And the weather in NC was not good. The first night we were there, they had torrential rain, and the following days were very hot and muggy. So my movement was limited and my appetite and access to food was far from normal. But as they say, this too shall pass.

And yes, Sheesh, I still have surgery scheduled for June 30. The gastro surgeon says I'll be fighting periodic diverticulitis until that section of my colon is removed. Hopefully, he can do that without a big incision to make recovery faster. I suspect it will be another 6 weeks or so before I can get back to what I consider normal for me, i.e., logging my food and watching macros, doing my class two times a week, and getting my 10K steps in each day. I will be soooo glad when that time comes!

Sent an email to give you gals, more details. ❤️
