Update on kaliswalker!

I'm sure many of you are wondering about Lynn (kaliswalker). Lynn is the founder of the 5% Challenge on SparkPeople and the primary driving force behind the challenge's continued success since its beginning in the Spring of 2010 on SparkPeople.

Nearly a year ago, Lynn contracted COVID, then long COVID. She was too ill to remain active in the challenge at that time. Recently, Lynn has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

I received this update from her husband, Alan (kalisdaddy), along with permission to share this prayer request. Although Lynn is unable to spend time on the computer, Alan will share positive thoughts and prayers from the comments below.

Lynn has been diagnosed with limited-stage small-cell lung cancer. Her first cycle of Chemo started May 26th. She will be doing 4 to 6 cycles of chemo, each cycle lasting 3 weeks. Probably in 1 to 3 weeks, she will also be starting radiation therapy, which is done every day, Monday to Friday, for 15 sessions. This cancer is aggressive with a high chance of recurrence. On the plus side, it was caught early and is limited to one lung, so therapy can be targeted. So far, she hasn't shown any symptoms and has had no side effects from the first round of chemo. Let's hope that continues. Prayers are appreciated.

Thank you for this space to express how positively someone can influence our lives. This is about you, Lynn. You've positively influenced not only my life but also the lives of all the people who have become your friends through these challenges and beyond. I consider myself fortunate to have met you. I'm keeping you in my heart and thoughts, and hoping for the best outcome for you—lots of love, care, and hugs.

Lynn, I'm so sorry you're going through all this. Please be encouraged there is hope. My sister had lung cancer and part of one lung removed, as well as one of 4 rounds of chemo (she couldn't tolerate it), but it was enough. She is now cancer free. Praying your treatments will be successful. You have demonstrated over the years that you are a faithful warrior. Keep fighting!

    Sending prayers and hugs.

Take good care... hope to hear how it goes, the treatment can feel unending... but it sounds like a good team and support is in place to deal with the necessities. ♡
