Today's Topic: Being off the program for more than a few days and maintaining a good mental attitude. Most of this group has been at it awhile and know you must keep that good mental attitude. Do you ever need to have a little talk with yourself?

Oh yes! I've have more than one little talk with myself. In fact there is no real way to keep count on this subject.

So I keep that good mental attitude as constant as I can. Getting down in the dumps for being overweight or slowing down the rate of increase or not not being happy with my rate of loss, does no good, beating myself up.

So while I may not rejoice in my certain weight circumstance, I just do my best to make it through one meal at a time while I get back on track and celebrate myself for making it through meals one at a time.

I do need to have talks with myself, but if only I would actually listen to myself, that would be more helpful!

I generally keep a good mental attitude, but I will admit that I am feeling a little helpless with myself to break the current cycle of bad habits I'm in. Thus, my weight is up close to the top end of my range, and that makes me pretty discouraged. Whether it's enough of a kick in the pants to break out of it…I dunno.

I talk to myself constantly. Eating, moving, the weather, politics.

Now, if I'd only LISTEN to me.

Yes, I need a stern talking to - fairly often, so far this year. I’ve been having one or two days of off-plan eating every week, which is why I’m in my Red Zone and had to pay WW for June. Maybe the hearing aids will help me listen to myself?

Derrick - your last line about “have a little talk” brought to mind one of the hymns I grew up with. 😉

I need to chat with myself daily in order to keep myself focused. Just like what happened to me on a recent bike ride—the chain slipped a notch and before I knew it the whole chain came off. Keeping alert to small missteps and getting them resolved can help me avoid major consequences.

Like Kris Kristofferson wrote in a song - you've been reading my mail. The only thing I would have to change is that I am above my preferred range, not at the top end of it. Emphasis on the I dunno part.
