Today's Topic: Leisure Time
A big part of a healthy lifestyle is leisure and how we incorporate that into our lives.
Recommend any good books? Recommend any good movies? Recommend any streaming any memorable TV shows? Learn any new languages? Found a new hobby? Do any volunteer work?
What does your leisure map look like?

Sadly my reading has come to a halt in the last few years so desperately need to get back in the Grove
DW and I have gotten into a habit after we both finish our working day and have been watching Hallmark movies some action and mystery movies mixed in.
Don't really watch or stream any TV shows just a couple of news sources.
Haven't got any new hobbies or started one.
I have given up my volunteer work of around 20 years on March 31st.
No new languages.
My leisure map looks terrible.
I'm still active in my Real Estate Firm I have owned for 21 years and get interrupted alot.
At 78 years of age things need to change, and no one can do that but me.

These days, most of my reading is Jewish-learning based. I try to read one full page of gemara a day (called "Daf Yomi," literally "daily page," each page probably takes me 30-60', and I'll complete the full gemara in ~7.5 years total), and every week I read the Torah portion in both Hebrew and English. I also like to learn various Jewish texts with partners, and before we started planning for our move, I had 4 different learning sessions per week.
I did read a couple of "fun" books recently by William Gibson: The Peripheral and Agency. You have to like his writing style to fully appreciate them, but I thought they were really enjoyable.
I was reading The Tablet regularly as my primary "explain the background behind the news" online news magazine. However, they just went behind a firewall, and are now producing a print magazine. If we were staying in the US, I'd probably purchase a subscription. I'm not sure it'll be as valuable to me in Israel.
My wife and I always like to have a "junky" TV series to watch as a means to unwind at the end of the day. A recent favorite was Longmire (on Netflix). My favorite move is probably Arrival, which I'll rewatch once-in-a-while.
I continue to slowly work on my Hebrew. When we get to Israel, I'll take Ulpan, which is an intensive Hebrew course for new immigrants.
I had been volunteering on a number of boards for local Jewish institutions. Now that we're leaving, I'm getting off of all of those boards (thankfully—they were surprisingly time-consuming).
Other hobbies have come-and-gone. I loved to brew beer, but I recently gave away all of my brewing equipment as I won't have enough room to continue that hobby in Israel. I still run regularly, but I wouldn't really call that a "hobby" per se, because I don't enjoy it enough to do as a hobby!
Wow, I guess I'm busier than I thought!

My primary leisure activity is reading, but I watch more TV than I’d care to admit.
Reading starts with the local news on my iPad. I’ll read the Boston Globe and Manchester Union Leader to get my balance of left wing and right wing - but I largely avoid the national news to keep my BP down. I’ll read the comics, and then go to read ESPN. Evenings I like to read John Sanford or Lee Child - although I’ve also enjoyed the Walt Longmire books on Kindle through the libraryI take a Tai Chi class twice a week, which is more about fitness than leisure - but it helps me relax and forces my INTJ self to interact with people IRL
Currently we’re watching Bones on Amazon Prime, which we didn’t watch when it first came out I also tend to watch some of the car shows on MotorTrend network when I’m on the Nordic Track.
And I volunteer for AARP Tax-Aide during tax season, which also forces me to act civilized.
