Logging food works, lol. But, frustratingly slowly.
I had my trainer Monday, and yesterday we were supposed to play golf, but it was just too hot. So, we moved that to Friday because it's supposed to be a bit cooler, so I have to get some cardio today because yesterday I ended up just doing housework and laundry. I'm also going to have to go in to resolve an incorrect bill that's STILL hanging around from my colonoscopy. Argh . . so annoying.
Sarah, it's really difficult to be patient while we heal, and the pain is awful I'm sure. Maybe get a good book or binge a show to occupy your mind while your body heals and recovers. There's nothing you can do to speed that up, other than rest and follow doctor's instructions. It's hard, but keeping your mind positive will help you get through it. I am sending you daily thoughts . . it's going to get better.
Lois, your short trip sounds fun, and I'm glad you were able to see your Auntie and make her happy ☺️ Glad that you're getting back to your plan and focusing on your self care.
Kelly, I hope it's cooler where you are!

TW: 129.4Hopefully, this is the last time for a while that I add question marks for my weight, but I knew that what I weighed this time last week was mostly fluids from the surgery and post-op. I was surprised to see that I'm back down today to where I was before surgery because my middle is still swollen, although not as bad. I know when they cut, they cut through muscle, so maybe it's like an over-stretched rubber band and I'll have to work to get those muscles to tighten up a bit again. I also know that I will probably never have a flat belly again, but I don't like this look at all!
However, getting in and out of bed, which was one of the hardest things to do when I got home, is getting easier, and I only took two extra-strenth Tylenols yesterday. And I hope by next week, I can record some steps. This past week, I walked only in short intervals, very slowly, and of course with no hills. But thank goodness for all those days that I mustered around that very hilly route because I think my leg muscles from doing that was what made getting up and down possible the first few days. Yesterday, I walked 43 minutes on the TM, but only at 2 mph. I was doing around 3.6 on the TM before, so quite a difference. I was glad to have "And Just Like That" on Max to watch while I did this, although I have to tell you, I was disheartened to hear Carrie describe a pair of isontoner ballet slipper type bedroom shoes as "assisted living shoes." I love those shoes (LOL) and I'm wearing a black pair as we speak! 😛
My intake has also been way off since I'm trying to mostly follow the post surgery plan that includes those high calorie nutritional shakes. Add 660 calories to any balanced diet and you come up with something a short person cannot sustain for long. So now that I've hit 7 full days post-op, I'm going to do only one a day and taper off to none in the next week.
Hubby continues to feel pretty normal, just a little more fatigued than usual, but that could be partially attributed to the high heat and high humidity around here and to the stress we've been under recently. Any time anyone complains about what has been going on with them, I just want to say, "Here—hold my beer!"
My plan for next week is to try to get the daily kcal intake down a little and burn a few more calories, too. However, because today's my birthday, I may thrown caution to the wind and go get some really good ice cream. 😁
Hope everyone has a good week.0 -
Sarah, all day ever since I typed July 9, I've been thinking "What was on July 9th?", and it's been driving me crazy! Then, it hit me that it's Sarah's Birthday!!!! Really, it hit me BEFORE I logged on again. I'm so sorry it slipped my mind this morning. I'm going to sing Happy Birthday with my hubby right now to send happy wishes your way! Cheers to you! And, I love those slippers too. I guess we're just old ladies . . wise old ladies who know what we like. ☺️

Thanks, Sheesh. And after I thought about it, I think she said "nursing home shoes," but I love them and I'm glad I'm not alone. (Currently wearing Toms, which are also out-of-style per every Gen Z I know! 😄)

Happy belated birthday Sarah!!! I promise that I wrote a message yesterday, but apparently didn't hit "post reply". So I hope you had the ice cream and had an amazing day!! Keep up with the slow moving and be sure to rest when you can.
Progressing as I'm progressing….lol. I'm logging everything. Hitting the 80g protein and most of the time around the 50g net carbs. Met with trainer on Tuesday night. oh boy…it was 112 and yes, I still went. Had 3 hour hair appt last night and I have my trainer again tonight. I meet with the dietitian next Thursday. I'll fill you on that after the appt.
So Rhea's mom and I are planning a girls trip to DL in Sept. My son has agreed and decided he didn't want to join us (too much going at work to take pto). So it will be just the 3 of us. On July 4, Costco was selling special DL tickets. Well, since the trip was not 100 confirmed or sanctioned (lol), I did not pull the trigger to buy them the tix. Well, my son reached out and said the girls can go without him (keep in mind Grammy & Grandpa are taking everyone for Thanksgiving in November, so we're not paying for tickets for this trip - wallet is yelling at me...lol). Anyhow, hot and sweaty on Tuesday night, I changed my shirt and went to Costco near us. Prior FB posts had confirmed the tickets were not at the AZ stores yet…but I did see on the July 4 email that my local warehouse possibly had them. So again, hot, sweaty and STINKY…I ventured to Costco after my training session and YAY the tickets were there. So I bought them the two tix (they are paying me back…lol). Anyhow, super excited as we now have just a girls trip planned in September. I'm hoping my daughter will join us for at least a day, but she can't commit until she has other planned visitor dates confirmed). But I am excited. These tickets saved them $279 off of one adult and one child ticket.
Our weather is so HOT this week. Yesterday we were at 115…today 110. It's brutal to go outside. I wish my work scheduled could accommodate me training at 9am instead of 6pm. But thank goodness for remote starts on the new cars. Oh and on the new car, I am refinancing with almost a full point lower (including lower than my preferred relationship status with my bank). The Grand Highlander is in such high demand that even with an 800 credit score, there are no 0-4% interest rates out there.
Sheesh - great reduction! Keep up with logging and training. We saw golfers at the resort over the weekend. While they "walked the course", they had remote control bag carriers. I thought that was pretty cool.

Happy Monday Ladies…
Just a quick check in that all is well in my world. I'm hoping you ladies are doing well. Rhea will be visiting this evening and tomorrow…so I will be offline. Wednesday I will be recovering while I work so may not be able to check in. I have the dietician meeting Thursday morning so I'll check in on Friday sometime with an update. You ladies are all on my mind and hoping everyone is ok.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Lois, I'm glad you're meeting with the dietician. And, yes, please pass on the info.
I know what you mean by recovering . . yesterday, we spent the day at the Rec Center outdoor pool with our little grands here. Then we came back to our house and grilled burgers and hot dogs, played some more, kids had baths, put in pjs, and they were exhausted and asleep by the time they got home. Imagine how exhausted I was, lol! However, I had my trainer this morning like it or not. Pretty much crashed out since. But, we enjoyed them very much. Enjoy Rhea ☺️
Sending good thoughts to you, Sarah. I hope you're feeling better and better every day.
