Well, that's a bummer. 😐️I can only surmise that it's the result of not being able to burn as many kcals because I can't move around that much and still trying to follow that igher calorie post-surgery diet plan. (That ends on Sunday.)
But the soreness is improving. I have one area that is still pretty sore and sometimes feels like there's a pulling sensation. Tomorrow I see the surgeon for a follow-up visit and I'll ask him about this one area, but overall, the belly is doing much better. And I must be getting better because I'm feeling a little cranky every now and then. LOL
My hope for the coming week is that I can increase both my walking speed and duration. Yesterday, I only got in 30 minutes on the TM, but I did go with hubby twice to run a few errands. I had to remind him every now and then that my walking pace is not where it is normally, but I did okay. My plan was to buy a new shower curtain liner and summer weight blanket. Went to two stores, but found neither item that I would have. (Shopping is one of my least expensive activities!). We also picked up a few things at the grocery stores (hit two of them), including some higher fiber items that I can finally start adding back into my diet.
Well, considering my narrow world for the moment, I don't have much to share this week. Hope that everyone is doing well and looking forward to reading your posts.

TW: 132.2Ever so slowly . . . but, at least in the right direction.
Sarah, I'm very relieved to see your post, and to read you're doing better. Getting out to shop is not fun in my opinion, and I think it's quite draining. . so, well done. Let us know what your surgeon tells you tomorrow, but it sounds like normal soreness and recovery. Take your time because, whether we like it or not, healing takes time. But, it's really so miraculous that we heal when you think about it. Wouldn't it be great if appliances and machines healed themselves? But, we tend to take our bodies healing for granted.
As for myself, I had my trainer Monday and was pretty sore yesterday. Hubby and I try to set Tuesday as our "date" day, so we had pedicures together (this is a fairly new experience for him, lol) and then went to lunch and to see "Superman" (his choice, hah!). It was just okay, but we had fun, and I welcomed a "rest day". Today, I'm off to the treadmill to work out the remaining soreness, and I hope to have time for a dance cardio on Apple for exercise and because I enjoy them. Hubby has developed a weird rash on the skin around his eyes, so I just made an appointment for him with the dermatologist, but it's not until July 31. Doctors 🙄 ugh.

Good morning ladies.
Dietician appt went well. I'm now eating more properly. According to their scales, I'm down 5lbs. I can't verify as hubby keeps forgetting to change users on our scale so on my Garmin on June 10, it's his weight, not mine. And even this morning, he forgot again. Ah well. First world problems. So she stated that their primary focus is to keep protein between 80-100 and NET carbs 50 or lower and calories - never below 800. They're focusing on the protein and net carbs. The app also tracks exercise - so we discussed what I'd use for my training sessions - as I don't keep track of reps and particular exercises, but 30 min PT sessions. Just keep moving a bit each day. There were some food group categories and they differ a bit from what my old nutritionist categorized…but hey, I'm following their guidelines for the moment so I can enjoy sugar snap peas, carrots and jicama to my hearts content. I am planning on scanning their guidelines so I can have them on my phone with me when we travel etc and I can email you a copy if you're interested. If I can reduce 5lbs a month, I'll be happy at that rate. I have my annual physical next week with blood draw on Friday. So hopefully the other numbers will stay in line (A1C, glucose and triglycerides). So my Black Angus BOGO steak is approved. My net carbs have been averaging in the 40's so that's been helpful. I have to stay away from my tortillas…those are just about all of my carbs for the day. At least it's not 25 as Lance had me doing so many years ago. That was not sustainable. Next appt is in August with the PA.
Rhea, Grandpa and I had a fantastic, if not exhausting, day on Tuesday. She woke up before 6am!!! UGH. I was really hoping for 630 or 7 but nope. 6am. I had her watch a show on my phone as Grandpa doesn't go to bed until 2-3am so was hoping he'd get a little more shut eye before we went downstairs. She is OBSESSED with the 3d printer and then painting her selections. So first thing she did was get Grandpa on the computer to start printing some stuff for her. Then we swam and by the time we were done, her prints were ready to paint along with lunch. She was yawning the entire drive home… She started first grade yesterday and was so excited.
Sarah - please don't microfocus on your weight for the next few weeks as you recover. Focus on your recovery and your weight will adjust once you're healed up. I would hate for you to have any setbacks. And like Sheesh said, it sounds like your healing and hopefully your doc confirms that it's normal. Please let us know what the doc says.
Sheesh I love your focus! Ooh hoping hubby's new rash clears quickly. Yikes I hate anything on my face.
Kelly hoping all is well with you and your family. I think of you guys often and hoping the new home is comforting and getting settled.
Well, today is the 70th anniversary of Disneyland's park opening and I'm not there - oh sigh. We'll be there on Saturday and Sunday and I am really hoping they still have some of the tchochkes available. (special maps and buttons and a shirt too). After this trip we won't go again until Labor Day weekend. And then my travel picks up again for September (3 trips to CA - 2 DL and a baby shower).

Hi, all. Just a quick post to let you know that the doc said my healing is right on schedule. The area that is still most sore (and it's not where they actually cut to take the piece out) is where they cut through muscle to do the reconnect. He said to be extra sore there is normal. And my belly button is still tender because that's where they put in lights! Yep lights. Isn't modern medicine fascinating? So considering that the expected healing time is 4 to 6 weeks, I'm a couple of days past week 3, and so I guess I have to be patient. I don't know if it was driving to his office and then walking across a pretty big parking lot, but I was not feeling as good last night as I was the night before, so I did not get on the TM. Hope to get in some walking today, though. Stayed up until 3:30 this morning finishing a book, so I should do that early rather than later!
Sheesh and Lois, it sounds like you're both focusing on good, healthly measures yourselves. We just keep doing the best we can do, and as hubby reminds me, "One's best will be good enough." 😊 Kelly, hope the new home is feeling like home now and that we will hear from you soon.0 -
Just a quick post. I read your updates and I’ll come back tomorrow, but I wanted to say Happy Birthday to Lois 🥳 (I hope I’m correct on the date) Cheers!

I'm back from my hiatus 😆 I was never really gone, but more lurking in the background. Honestly, every single time I came to read and post, I'd get through some reading and then something would come up, or I would plan to post and then something would happen. So I'm really sorry. When I read Sarah's post about how we've know each other for 15 years, I nodded and smiled, as yes, I agree, you all are an important part of my world too. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of each of you at some point throughout my day. So thank you for being there for me too. 💞
Sarah - I'm so glad to hear that you're slowly recovering and able to get through some movement. Movement at any pace is great. Interesting with the lights in your bellybutton too lol Sounds sci-fi-ish lol I'm sorry to hear about your hubby's health scare with the clot/stroke. I hope he's feeling back to normal now and the dizziness has gone away. Maybe that's the kick in the butt he needed to get some movement in. I know you have said in the past he was sore here and there, and just wished he would go walking to help it. Also, I also really like 'And Just Like That'. I was a big Sex & the City fan back in the day, so I'm glad they kept up with the show and continued the storyline. I have to admit though, I'm not a huge fan of Aiden anymore though.
Lois - Thank you for sharing all that you're going through with the dietician and your app and such. I'd love an email with those guidelines you were talking about, just to see. It's all interesting and helpful info for sure. The Keto type bread I like when I'm cutting carbs is Carbonaut. I've only tried the purple and blue bag, but I only like the purple one. I get it from Costco on occasion.
Sheesh - I also didn't know that you had 3 mini strokes. I knew you had heart issues though. Maybe I knew but I forgot. Also, I love that your hubby is willing to go for pedicures. Not sure I could ever convince mine to do that. Although, it's been forever for me too since I've went for one. Did the rash around his eyes get any better? I know you said his appointment isn't until next week. Our daughter had issues with rashes around her eyes and we ended up attributing it to her facewash. Once we switched it, the rash went away. She still has issues with puffiness and itching, but she's waiting for allergy tests for that.
Well, we're all settled into the house. Really love living outside of the city that's for sure. It's so quiet and peaceful. We're also really loving living in a bungalow again. Hubby is waiting to hear back about the permit so he can start building the stairs & deck for the backyard. That'll be great once that's done because right now we have to take our dog out front to go to the bathroom. In the middle of the night if he has to go, there I am in my pjs hoping no one sees me lol While he's waiting for the permit, he started insulating the garage. Something I didn't think was super necessary, but something he wanted. He wants to put some shelves up, but couldn't until it was insulated and drywalled. Then there's the fence, which we're hoping to do this Fall. Waiting on the neighbour who has a post driller guy to get that done and then more landscaping will need to be done too. Have to rip out a bunch of grass in both our side yards, as it's pointless and causes more work. This winter I'm sure he'll want to get started on doing the basement too.
This is the first "normal" week we've had since we moved in. We have had a couple different weeks of vacation, amongst the moving and setting up, plus Tyler's graduation. I think I might finally be able to get into some sort of routine. It'll be even easier once Ella goes back to school in September I'm sure. She's busy with driving lessons for the next few weeks. Tyler has been busy working and spending money.. as a typical teenage boy does. For grad, we got him a used Jeep Cherokee, which was an upgrade from the old beat up Chevy Sonic he was driving. We told him how much we would contribute towards it and he's paying us for the rest. Life lesson of making payments is important. Ella will get the same deal when she gets her full licence in the Spring. On top of that, my parents have been really struggling with their health lately. Dad has Parkinson's and we're noticing a big decline. He fell recently and thankfully didn't break anything, just scraped his arm. I think my Mom said they're going to get a stairlift installed at their house for their basement. He pretty much lives downstairs and that's where their laundry is. They're adamant that they don't want to move just yet. Mom is also struggling with pain and stomach issues and all sorts of things. They just took 11 vials of blood from her a couple weeks ago and are testing her for Lupus or Rhumetoid Arthritis or something else. She's even considered taking gummies with CBD and a tad of THC to help her sleep - a nurse relative told her about them.
Well this post is long enough, even though I'm sure there is so much more to say, but hopefully it be the first of many and more consistent, now that life is settling a tad. Again, I need to figure out a way to get back to me.. and making myself a priority. Easier said than done. I have been doing some video workouts with weights, I just need to be more consistent overall. Haven't weighed in forever, but maybe I'll start tomorrow.
Miss you all

It's hard to believe how fast July is going! I was hoping to be closer to 125 lb by now. (Looking ahead to our trip to Maui in September). Lois, making 5 lb progress on your program is fantastic! It really sounds like a solid plan. It's very interesting that the focus is on net carbs and protein and not calories. Report back on what you eat because it sounds like sugar would be off the menu, but I'm wondering about starches such as potatoes, yams, rice, etc. I cannot believe that Rhea started first grade 😊 Our almost 4 year old granddaughter is starting 3 days a week pre-school already. . it's so fun for the kids, but sad for grandma. And, by the way, I think you need your own scale, ha ha! Tracking your progress on your new programs is important.
Sarah, I was glad to read your healing is progressing well, although not surprised at all because you're very healthy and I'm sure you're taking all the correct steps to get completely recovered. I only worry that you'll push it too early and too hard with exercise. I know you're anxious to get going, but follow the docs orders and go gradually. Also, share the book you were reading . . it must have been really good to stay up so late to finish. I'm always looking for a book that good.
We had a big day yesterday! A contractor came to repair a ceiling downstairs that had some water damage. . I had discovered water on the floor in the main bathroom around the toilet. Hubby checked it and was able to find the problem was a loose bolt on the tank that he found at a plumbing supply store (not easy) and replaced. Thank goodness it wasn't a crack in the tank or bowl. But, even though he's good at little fixes, replacing drywall isn't on his list of skills. So, after cutting out the wet areas and letting it dry out well and checking all around and below the contractor was able to come and replace, tape and mud the drywall. He will need to come back to paint. Also, I had my trainer yesterday, cleaning ladies, and an oil change apt. for hubby's car. Busy day! I think we're going to take today off and go play nine holes, lol. I'll be back tomorrow to weigh in.

P.S. (I was able to use the "edit" button to get back on) Kelly, we were posting at the same time. I started to log off but then saw your post. . So glad to hear about what's going on with you. The new house sounds great, and perfect for your family. A Jeep Cherokee is a fun car for a teenage boy. Our son had a used jeep for his first also, and making his payments was a great lesson. So sorry about your parents health issues. I know how hard it is. I hope your mother will try the gummies, of which occasionally my hubby will partake for his pain, and they do help. He's so square though . . he had to go get a medical prescription to be "legit", lol. The laws here are stupid. I have no doubt that you will get back into your routine now that all the big changes are mostly done, you will make it happen. We have to put ourselves at the top of our lists, and when life bumps us down the list, get back to the top as soon as possible. I remind myself of that all the time because, otherwise, things just get harder. Glad you're working out with some weights! I was reading about weight training and how much women need it, so keep up the great work. Well, I must get going.
