I took Garmin’s advice and did a steady pace walk tonight as I am not up to an aerobic Leslie walk after the night I had.😣

At 1 AM I got up to go to the bathroom and Dennis was in his chair moaning and saying he was dizzy and had a lot of pain between his shoulder blades. I massaged the area thinking he might have sat in the chair too long yesterday, but it did not ease his discomfort at all. He was also experiencing very shallow breathing because anything deep caused him pain. You all know his heart history and he was ambulatory, so I got him into the truck and off we went to the ER (I know they prefer ED today, 🀣 but I just cannot refer to them that way as it cracks me up!). Of course, the moon was very bright last night so all the deer in the Adirondacks decided to take their summer strolls on the road I had to use!!!!!😑🦌🚫

Long story short, his heart was fine and performing exactly as it should. ❀️ His problem was his lungs! He has bronchitis, aggravated by particulates from the wild fires!!!!! 😳😳😳 He has had a cough, but it got better in the last few days, so we did not even mention it to the MD. We did not even think about or connect it to the wild fires. The ER MD said he has treated bronchitis more this summer than ever before and among all age groups. Dennis stays inside when the air quality even approaches the yellow zone, but with the kids running in and out, it was hard to keep the house totally sealed up. So, if you have a cough and it is not accompanied by a runny nose and other symptoms of a cold, see your MD! The wild fires are really aggravating illnesses that normally you'd get over in a few days.

After all this stress and texting my boys to tell them, I finally got to sleep at 5:30 AM. Garmin suggested a 30 minute walk for today and I went for it!!!!

@Elfirose33 A Girl's Day with Dottie! How sweet! She must feel like a real pampered and pretty princess after all the fussing you did with her. Lucky Dottie!

@lclark04957 I hope you had great breezes today and the best sailing day possible! After everything you did yesterday, you deserve a great sail!!! ⛡️

@megd44 Hey Megd great to "see" you!!! Glad you are relaxing with family. Saying no is so hard for us as women. Most men have little problem crating those boundaries, but I have always struggled with no! Enjoy your new found freedom!

@Deeder522 The moon was huge last night and bright! I actually thought we left the garage light on it was so bright out. I was glad for it though when I had to drive Dennis to ER because the deer were very visible. I hope you and Ryan got out last night because the sky was beautiful. Since I live in the woods, I rarely see a mass expanse of sky so it was nice to see the moon and all the stars. We have very little light pollution so the stars were also very bright.

Dennis has an appoint with his cardiologist and it is going to be 91 F tomorrow (32.8 C)! I am going to die out there … you know that!!! If I am not here tomorrow, just know the heat took me out!!!! πŸ˜‚πŸš«β˜€οΈπŸš«β˜€οΈπŸ˜‚ Stay cool! 😎

Today I walked Dottie 20 minutes to my house, where she spent the afternoon with me because we have the best time together! πŸ’œ Since she had her bath yesterday, today we went out visiting! There's a friendly little dog down the way and we went to see him and his human family. Tonight I took Dottie for a walk and then back home, 30 minutes.

    @lclark04957 Sailing sounds amazing!

@megd44 Hello! So glad you had a nice time with your family:) Good job not tracking anything! Glad you're feeling better.

@Deeder522 Well done with your gentle walk!

@zichab Oh no, sorry to hear about the very long stressful night. But glad the ER got it all figured out! Excellent job getting a walk done! Yes, I think Dottie is feeling pretty special these days! πŸ’œ And she should because she's very special! 😊

    August Goals

    Milage Tracked 22 / 70
Apple Challenge: 15 walks of 5 minutes of more. 9/15

I decied that since I was getting up early to put the trash cart out that I might as well lace up my outdoor sneakers and get a walk in at the park. 74 with humidity in the low 80s, I was able to get a 20 min 1 mile walk done. I'm feeling pretty good for someone who didn't sleep well last night. We have soem chances of rain the next 2 days so we'll see if I can get back out there for soem more walks.

@zichab OMG!!! That's sounds absolutely nerve wrecking. I'm glad you were able to get Dennis to the ER and figure out what was going on. Hopefully, his continued rest and meds will help clear that out. A steady pace walk was probably the perfect thing to help you too.

August Goals: Beginning Aug 10: 3 Leslie Workouts per week and TEZ 2 times each week. Aug 2-25 minute indoor walk: Garmin Miles: 7.3

Aug 3-30 minute indoor walk: Garmin Miles: 7.8

    Aug 6- Garmin Miles: 5.0

Aug 7- WAH-2 mile Walk: Garmin Miles: 6.7

Aug 8-WAH: Burn Body Fat-2 mile walk: Garmin Miles: 6.4

Aug 9-WAH: 3 Mile Power Walk: Garmin MIles: 7.5

Aug 10-30 minute steady pace walk Garmin Miles: 9.2

Aug 11-30 minute steady pace walk: Garmin MIles:

We saw Dennis' cardiologist today and his afib is not resolving on its own and he is not sure how much the bronchitis has to do with it. If his heart rate is not more consistently below 80 in 2 weeks, he is going to do a cardioversion, which in common language is "he is going to zap his heart into behaving!" And the fun just keeps coming ya know???? πŸ™„

I am still keeping up with my workouts though as they help me to not get all anxious about this stuff. Tonight, Garmin recommended an outdoor walk/run interval and I said "Um NO!!!" It's freakin' 88F with humidity that is off the charts! Whoever programs these things needs to connect workouts to weather! 🀣 I decided I needed to walk, not do aerobics so I did another steady pace walk. I am doing these right past Dennis' chair also to encourage him to get up and walk a bit. So far, he is not biting, but I will not give up!!!! 😠 πŸ˜‚

@Elfirose33 Dottie is really getting spoiled! Beauty treatments, visiting friends … she'll want to stay forever with you!

@Deeder522 It was very nerve wracking, but so much less once I knew it was not his heart. All the way to the ER I was telling him "do not die on me or I will kill you!!!!" He kept saying "I won't!!" LOL However, the nurse was so helpful. She said as long as he is conscious and breathing and can ambulate, the odds that he is having a heart issue is not likely unless the pain is in his chest. In this case, it wasn't, so we did the right thing. He is out of pain and the meds seem to be breaking up the bronchitis because he is coughing a lot. Today was nerve wracking as well because like Ryan, he is getting "sick of it!" He wants to be better and move on!!!! I cannot blame him, but he is not 45 anymore either. 😐️

@lclark04957 Are you still relaxing in that sailboat???? What some people will do to avoid their workouts! 🀣 Hope you had a great sail!

This heat needs to go elsewhere!!! 91F in the mountains is simply not acceptable!!!! Thankfully, it goes down into the 50s at night. I am ready for winter!! ⛄️

Today I did personal training for 30 minutes, walked Dottie 25 minutes, mowed 65 minutes, and walked Dottie again tonight for 40 minutes cross country.

@Deeder522 Good walk! I hope you can get some good sleep tonight.

@zichab Oh my goodness, hang in there! I hope like crazy everything gets resolved and healed soon. Your steady pace walks are so good! Yes, Dottie certainly needs some extra TLC these days and our new routine is going really well; my dad is pleased:)

This morning I did an all in 1 combo workout with Improved Health. Cardio walking, Arms always in motion, Strength training, and balance/cool down. 30 mintues later I'm more warm than cool. 🀣
I did sleep better but did wake up from a wonderful storm that rolled through. Nothing major but we've needed a good rain and we got it. As I'm typing, another small cell is passing over. This is the type of storm that should help revive everyones dying/dead yards.

@zichab Good Greif! I"m sending you all the virtual support I can.

@Elfirose33 Dottie's starting to gain some good milage. Great job on being consistent on your personal training.

    Aug 12-WAH: 5 K with a Twist! Garmin Miles:

Things went well today around the Zicha hacienda! Lost of coughing and throat clearing, but no pain and no dizziness so progress is being made!!!! Heart beat is still to high, but we will take our wins where we can get them.

I decided to do a real workout today and went for 5K with a Twist I am working up to a 5 mile Leslie aerobic walk because they help so much with my sleep. Got my upstairs all cleaned today and that felt so good! My dentist called and she can finally schedule an appointment for me. Her hygienists moved, had babies, got another job, got married etc and she has been very short staffed. I was thrilled to get in because I am on a 3 month rotation between her and the periodontist and my teeth felt very yucky!!! When you have them cleaned every 3 months, you notice the yucky much sooner! I know TMI πŸ˜‚! SO all on all, it was a good day and there were no excuses on to do a good Leslie video!πŸ€“

@Elfirose33 30 minutes with a trainer is a good workout and then you walked 95 minutes after that? You are rocking the "stay active" advice that is for sure! Nice job! πŸ…

@Deeder522 I still have the 10 minute Pilates Toned Arm by fitbyMik workout on my computer. I am going to try it one of these says after I have totally recovered from this summer and all the company! I am glad you are finally able to sleep. It is so hard to function when you are sleep deprived I know. We are supposed to get thunderstorms tomorrow and it is predicted to be 84 and humid so they will be loud ones I am sure. At least it is not the hurricane heading to the coast. 😊

    Stay cool! 😎

Today I walked Dottie 25 minutes this morning and 25 minutes this evening. I gardened for 2 hours in the shade, slow and easy, for recovery from too much activity yesterday. Tonight I walked an additional 40 minutes, cross country, up/down hills, and then I ran up some long stairs at the very end of my walk because I was kinda thinking I could do it! And I did it, although I was winded by the time I got to the top 😜 (Not that long ago, I used to get winded when I just walked up those steps, so this is some real progress only getting winded by running up!)

@Deeder522 Excellent combo workout! Glad you slept better and that's great news you got some rain! Thank you:) My personal training sessions are soon drawing to a close by the end of this week. It's bittersweet seeing that chapter closing. But next week a brand new chapter begins and that will be fun too.

@zichab Congratulations on the completion of 100,000 steps, and before Aug. 15! Way to go! Good to hear about Dennis:) Great job cleaning and getting your dental appointment! Thank you so much! :)

Good morning everyone. Not much to report the last couple days. 96-98 degrees, poor air quality. I must keep busy tho because I am reaching step goals, just no aerobics to get my pulse up. It is supposed to be better today, showers tomorrow, so I plan to get back at it. I’m impressed with everyone else, crushing goals! Congrats!

Imporved Health workouts this morning. 15 min walk followed by 7 min of balance training.
We got rain. On and off all day long. Just under 2 inch in a 24 hour period. Ryan even put a couple of the house plants out to "enjoy the weather". If the forecast hold we may have a chance at the bike trail again for Ryan. 🀞🏻that the smokes stays out of the area or high enough it doens't matter.

@lclark04957 The heat and poor air quality is making it hard for everyone but you're still hitting your goals & that's a great report.

@zichab I've saved several Fit by Mik's arm workouts now. I like that she has several shorter ones instead of the big workouts.

@Elfirose33 It's amazing to see where progress shows up. Congrats on the Stair run. πŸ˜€

Well, we got some rain … key word SOME! Just about enough to make 79F feel like 87F!!!! When did rain start making things hotter???? πŸ™„

@lclark04957 Our air quality is not good either. It was over 60 this morning and dropped down to 40 after the rain, but considering our annual average is 23, it is still very high for us. It does not "look" bad, but clearly, it is! πŸ”₯😠

@Elfirose33 There you go again with one of those teasers! NOW you are training for the Olympics next week right????? Inquiring minds want to know about the "next chapter … that will be fun too." πŸ˜‚

@Deeder522 You got a lot more rain than we did and I am crossing my fingers that you do not get any more smoke! 🀞

Today I walked quite a bit at the VA Hospital carrying my fairly heavy backpack up and down long corridors and also to and from the parking lot several times (I parked far away). This afternoon I walked Dottie 25 minutes, and again 30 minutes tonight, then I walked on my own 40 minutes, cross country, which ended with my big run up the long stairs. And I mowed 35 minutes.

@lclark04957 Good job reaching step goals!

@Deeder522 Good workouts! Balance training is so important, fantastic work on that! Nice to hear you're getting the rain! And, thank you:)

@zichab Great walk today! It's such a bummer when the rain brings heat instead of relief, that happens here too. Oh yeah, I guess that was a teaser, lol! πŸ˜‚ The next chapter will be unveiled this coming Friday… 🀭

A quick 1 Mile out at the Park this morning.
Work has been a weird mix. Not steady but not really slow either. It's a mix bag right now. I'm sure there are a lot of outside factors at play here. Just missing a steady stream of income again. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

@zichab May the Winter Gods hear your plea.

@Elfirose33 Backbacking through the VA, Dottie walks, and Stair Runs. I'm starting to think you don't ever sit down. 🀣

We had a good day today albeit busy! This morning we went to the dentist for our 3 month perio cleaning. Then, since we both got great reports, we went out to lunch! So much for those clean teeth! 😜 Then we got groceries. After we got home, I made the bunk beds, (twin on top, double on the bottom) which is a workout in itself! So, when Garmin recommended a steady pace walk, I went for it! I know, color me 😴 today! πŸ˜‚

@Elfirose33 As someone who spends a lot of time at the VA, I can totally empathize with you about the endless corridors! You can often walk a few miles just getting from the parking lot (or garage in some cases) into the VA buildings. Once in the building, it is not unusual to add a few more miles just getting to where you have to go (usually as far from the door you entered S possible)! You had a workout today no question! Whenever Dennis has to go to the VA, I never worry about my step total for that day as I know I will exceed it … mightily! πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

@Deeder522 it is possible that the tariffs are impacting the strange mix you are seeing. People are insecure and don’t want to spend money, but then think maybe they should before things get really bad. My older son is in finance, remortgaging specifically, and he says they are getting a lot of queries about what will happen if ….., and a few are refinancing and others are β€œ going to decide later.” He says this has rarely happened like this in the past. People either do or don’t but rarely β€œ sit on the fence.” This same mindset may be impacting your business as well. Weird times we are living in makes people behave in weird ways.

The fall Gods are listening! It is going down to 49f tonight and I am ready for it! It’s almost sweater weather time! πŸ‚πŸ

This morning I did a Arm workout with Mik. We're still hoping to get to the trail today so I may have a chance to get some milage in that way.
Ryan's maintaining his weight to the point I've had to order new pants for him. He wears his clothes a bit loose b/c pressure around the hips messes with him. We think he may have a slight increase in his baseline. He's had a few good night of sleep, almost to good becuase he's been extra stiff in the morning. Downside, this doesn't mean he can do more "work". He just been better at pacing and not caring in the ways he used too.

@zichab If think the tariff's are having an impact. More clients are watching their botoom line. It also is impacting where I can find products for clients. It's easy to find a Mac but all the other stuff to go with it is become harder and pricier. More clients are waiting until some devestating happens tech wise to call, instead of being proactive.
Our son works in manufacturing and is on a hardline 40hrs, working 4 days a week. No overtime, no extras. He doesn't mind having a long weekend but is missing the extra 100's of $$ in his check now.

Yesterday was a rest day, but I did walk Dottie 25 minutes.

@Deeder522 Haha! I guess I don't want to sit down much because then I get stiff πŸ˜‚ I hope your work improves soon.

@zichab Your Garmin trail hikes sound fun! Making up bunk beds is another planet entirely, good job! Well done doing what you need. So true! Yeah, I'm glad I walked as much as I did at the VA because I was starting to be uncomfortable just sitting there in the waiting room. Hooray for the Fall Gods! We don't have any weather like that yet, but it's coming.

Aug 15-45 minute walk listening to a podcast: Garmin Miles:

I have never done this before, but it was recommended on a podcast I listen to and it works! Do your fitness walk to your favorite podcast. It was the easiest 45 minutes I ever spent fitness walking! I was so into listening, I kind of forgot I was walking! πŸ˜‚

@Deeder522 Your analysis fits with a lot of what I hear around here as well. This is a tourist area and of course, we lost a lot of Canadian tourists this year, but our friends who are still in business say that their fall leaf peeping reservations are way down and many American regulars have said they are staying home because things are starting to cost more and they are scared of what it will be like in fall. If manufacturing is scaling back, that is really not a good sign, as supposedly the tariffs will increase American manufacturing! πŸ™„The economy is going to tank if this continues. Thankfully, your son, and mine for that matter, still have jobs. πŸ™

@Elfirose33 It is 10:40PM and it is 61F right now and the humidity is very low. It is a glorious August night. If there were no bugs, I’d call it epic, but alas, they are still with us until mid- September. 🐜 🐞 πŸ› Fall comes early up here, but there will be more 80+ days before summer gives up for good! Is your Dad a veteran?

I hope you both have a great evening! I am off to read my πŸ“• on John Adams! πŸ€“

Yesterday I did personal training 30 minutes, walked Dottie 25 minutes, then walked on my own 30 minutes, with my great reward being that stair run at the end that leaves me breathless at the top 😜 I even declined my dad's offer to drive me home so I could face down those stairs! It's very cool to see and experience how exercise is transforming my can-do spirit!

My personal training session yesterday was the final one πŸ˜ͺ There were 18 in all over two months' time from June 13 through August 15. I never missed a single one. And it all happened during my busiest, most exhausting and most intense musical season of the year. But the timing was right for it! I'm so proud of myself 😊 It's bittersweet to see this chapter end; it's been a good run! I feel well prepared now to join my coach's group class Redline, a 40-minute challenging HIIT strength & conditioning group workout, which will begin for me on Monday, continuing for one month, 3 days a week on Mon/Wed/Fri. It will be fun to settle into a group class again πŸ’œ

@zichab An excellent duo, podcast and walking! That's fantastic you've discovered this fun thing to do while you walk! That's really nice weather you're having there, even if just for a day or two. We have long, full, hot and humid summers here that stick around in earnest and often intrude into other seasons, as well. It's going to be very hot and humid again this week, as has been the case, with a heat index high of 105* or so. But I'm good with that kind of heat and humidity, as extreme heat doesn't bother me. I don't know why that is because it bothers everyone else around me very much! Yes, my Dad's a veteran; he went into the Navy right out of high school for six years and then into the Army until retirement. Is the John Adams book you're reading by David McCullough? Just curious because I've read that book and it's sooo good.

I am really loving walking to a podcast! it is fun … not exactly aerobic … but fun!

@Elfirose33 Ah ha! Now we see what the "next chapter" is … Redline HIIT Training! πŸ˜‚ You go for it! If you can run up and down stairs, bless you, you can do HIIT no doubt!! I am good going up, but coming down is tricky on my knees! Doing it in the heat is absolutely OUT! I am a cold weather girl all the way! ❄️

Yes, I am reading McCullough's book on Adams. I was born during the administration of Harry Truman and McCullough's book, Truman is one of the best ones written on him, (except for his daughter's book of course 😁) so I do like McCullough a lot. What started me reading the book on Adams was the book American Aurora by Richard Rosenfeld that I read this winter. The Aurora was a Philadelphia newspaper edited by Ben Franklin's grandson where he claimed Washington was a terrible General and Adams was a royalist! Last summer, I read Abigail Adams by Phyllis Lee Levin and I knew she and John were not happy with Washington's initial losses to the British, but there was never even a suggestion that John, or Abigail for that matter, might be a royalist. Clearly, they were a bit authoritarian, but those were kind of the norms of the day. So, I decided to read a biography on Adams himself! After I finish it, I am going to read Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power by another of my favorite historians Jon Meacham. Might as well read about the ups and downs between Adams and Jefferson from Jefferson's side as well! LOL Also, the Aurora LOVED Jefferson! πŸ˜… I also like Michael Benschloss as he writes on more modern presidents, including Truman, who has become one of my favorites.

My downstairs is finally all clean and reset after my house full this summer. 😊 Tomorrow's task is to clean the down stairs refrigerator and defrost our chest freezer! It is not hard to do, but I dread it every year. I may do a tough Leslie walk tomorrow to work off my annoyance at having to do it! 🀣 Til tomorrow! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Happy Sweaty Sunday, friends! Due to heat/humidity we didn't make it to the trail on Friday. Saturday, I did a bunch of "running" around. Including drop some $$ at the SheFit warehouse sale. 3 new sport bra, leggings, a top, and shorts. 🀩 This is the 1st time I've tried this brand and let me tell you that the girls are secured in now. 🀣 This morning, I did 1 mile from 5 Really Big Miles.

@Elfirose33 Congratulations on complete 2 months worht of personal workouts. The next month of Redline workouts are going fly by for you.

@zichab In the last year or 2 I've become a fan of audiobook, and I like walking to those. I use then through the library. I have a couple different podcast that I list too as well. I do a mix of "fluff" podcast, health focused podcast and some crime.
