Getting Back on Goals, tips and tricks?

Hi all,

I started here first nine years ago and in the first eight months had lost about 40 pounds and the next year was down by a total of about 50 pounds from 217 to 168. Since then though I never put on about twenty pounds of that on, the other thirty, and nearly always the other twenty is back on me, I go back and forth between 184-195. I might have more muscle but I assume it would have little eventual change in the final comparisons. It's literally fall off and jump back on and it takes me a while to get back on each time.

I have again been trying the past two months and this is usually the mark when my motivation dies a bit. I have a high stress job and life with complex conditions. So the meals out do feel like a reward and we all know how difficult it is to continue when out. Also the only way I can do this is by not counting calories, or logging, as when I do that I fail in a short time which is demoralizing. I eat very healthy most of the time but sometimes I feel for my mental health… and let go.

I really want to get healthy and lose all this excess, even a fraction of a pound on the scale is super motivating. I have about 40 pounds to lose and would love to lose 15 pounds of that asap within the next couple of months.

What are your small tricks and tips that are easier to integrate to make things sustainable? To make the right choices in those moments at a restaurant etc? To add to everyday?

What did you see worked most for you? I can see that when I completely cut any kind of low carb bread and nuts things change a bit, but also those are the things that help me stay on track. I look forward to hearing from all of you here. This place was how I was able to do this in the times that I did it.

hello - this place is how I did it the first time, too. You story above sounds almost exactly like mine. I’m chiming in to join you in your effort; I don’t have many tips to offer.
I started with MFP, low carb/keto in 2017 and went from 213 to 152 and felt so much happier - more energy, more fit, healthier all around. Eventually I started to slip - nuts are overly tempting, and unfortunately there are lots of baked goods around this house.
Just this week I’m trying to recommit, and started tracking 4 days ago. My current weight is around 185.
I guess the only tip I can offer at this point is track and get in some movement everyday.
    best wishes as you recommit!
