HOW IT ALL WORKS: The November challenge runs for four weeks, from November 2nd - November 29th.

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get November on the road! 😎

    Welcome to November! 🍂

I am Lauren, co-captain along with @ashleycarole86 @Megan_smartiepants1970 Megan has been ill, so we wish her the best in her health journey.

I am a 62 years old female from Ohio, USA. I have been on a weight loss journey most of my adult life. I have done a lot of the yo-yo thing, usually gaining back more than I have lost. I have tried gluten free, Mediterranean, vegetarian, vegan, DASH, all sorts of things. This time, with the help of this group, I am hoping to stay on course all the way until I reach my ideal weight of 125. I started this time at 172 so I have a long way to go. I do this by tracking my meals and my exercise with the help of this app.

The one thing I have been trying to focus on this time is to keep coming back. When I have a setback, instead of giving up or just pushing through, I try to use this as an experiment. Analyze what happened, and make a list of things I can do to help solve that. And actually implement one of the things on the list. Work on small incremental changes instead of trying to do everything on the list all at once. Also try to set myself up for success as much as possible.

    Some helpful information/tools:

    Posting your daily updates

We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...

    Weighing in

Please try to weigh in on time (but don't sweat it if you have to use a different day sometimes)! Put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, you can request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can be moved to the "Support Team" where you still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.

    The F2F Habit Tracker

If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try:

    November Habit Tracker

So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live (if you're willing to share that), what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. We all have information to share, things we can learn, and lean on each other as a team for a successful month!

This month, I plan to post insights I have learned as I go through my day. Today, I watched a video by Daniel Barada on YouTube. It was posted 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure if I am allowed to provide outside links, so I won't. It is entitled "this is boring but it'll make you dangerously consistent in anything you do." He is reading off a script, but he does provide valuable insight about the power of persistence. Here are some quotes from the video:

    "The winners come back fastest."

"All progress is built on restarts."

    "Drift, notice, adjust, repeat."

The message here is important for weight loss because it shows that we will drift as we go along our weight loss journey, but we just need to keep trying. Hopefully we can adjust instantaneously as we notice we are drifting, but the weekly weigh-ins help give us the time to notice and do what we can to adjust.

Good morning teammates! I can’t believe we are into November already. We went on a gorgeous Fall color tour of Western

Michigan last week. We hit it right this year, the colors were gorgeous. I also started my Immunoglobular Infusion Therapy on Friday. It was not as bad as I had imagined. So far, so good!

Why oh why are the losses so small and the gains so big? I had a hard time this week listening to the voice of reason. I shouldn't eat the chips, but I can't make me, so I am going to have some anyway. And have extra because you can't make me.

@gillis1118 Congratulations on getting under 160! That is a great accomplishment! Your step counts show your hard work. Do you exercise in addition to your walking or is the walking the exercise? Just asking to see how people combine the two.

@rwillems The fall colors are definitely gorgeous! I hope your treatment gets your immune system up quickly. How long will you keep getting the treatments?

@ashleyh2100 @Mari33a Will you please give me your step counts for lat week?

@cormierannie @Misty_Putnam94 A gentle reminder that today is your weigh in day.

Hey there. Today's my rest day and I'll be back to working out tomorrow. In October, I worked on doing Leslie Sansone's Walk It Off In 30 Days DVD. Three days a week was cardio and three days was strength training. I made it through the month and lost two inches overall.

Now that I've become more consistent with my workouts, my November plan is to continue the schedule but do my own thing with the strength days and do longer or more intense cardio. I ordered a strength training workout poster and will use that as my guide.

I need to focus on eating better. I tend to be a snacker but it's hard to go for fruit or something healthier when you know there's something like left over Halloween candy beckoning from the cupboard. I'm going to work on doing better there.

@virgoreader I love how you are analyzing your results and progress and making a plan for the next period of time. I tend to push through like "I'll do better" but really examining where you go wrong seems like a great strategy.

One (probably minor) thing that might have made a difference for me is the cold. turned up the temperature a degree and wasn't hungry outside of mealtimes yesterday. Maybe I felt hungrier because I was cold.

@Misty_Putnam94 I too had a birthday gain last week, and am worried about the upcoming holidays.

@ShockinglyFit have you ever seen the weekly report on MFP? Last week was eye opening for me. It gives you a lot of information.

Today is a strength day and I'm heading upstairs to the gym room to get started. I like to get that done in the morning because there's no guarantee I'll want to do it later in the day. I'm a definite morning person! 😆

@virgoreader Thanks for the tip! I had looked at it once, but don't use that feature as much as I could. I am going to add more fruit to my diet. I used to eat a lot more fruit, but it looks like I have been slacking.
