lol Am I to assume that the response was something about telling me to go get bent for posting the article?

I love this one. Truth hurts.
  • I tend to miss the obvious more than I care to say and may be doing just that after reading the article. It seems that most replying are in agreement with the contents, when I thought it would have been just the opposite. This sentence:

"The second point is that the definition of “starvation mode” most people have in their head is wrong and nothing more than a myth. So the idea that not eating enough is preventing you from losing any weight or even causing you to gain weight is just pure bull****."

seems to dispute the whole negative "1200 calorie per day" theory I read about so often.

What am I missing? I apologize in advance for being so obtuse! :ohwell:

Do you mean in terms of an individual claiming to be eating 1200 calories/day and not losing? Or that it's not "good" to eat 1200 calories/day?
  • More along the lines of someone claiming to eat 1200 and not losing. Most of the time it seems replies state something like "of course not. You're not eating enough calories." However, if I'm correct, the entire concept of the article was "if you're not losing, you are eating TOO many calories / don't have a large enough caloric deficit.

    Thanks.

^ Most who claim to eat 1200, don't. Of those that do, most also go to the extreme with the cardio, effectively taking in say 500-800 calories.

More often than not, in those cases, the person is not weighing/measuring/logging accurately. They *think* they are eating 1200 but in reality they are eating far more. This article pretty much applies to that individual.

Many people quickly jump to "you're not eating enough" without knowing all the facts. There is a lot of misinformation out there!

I mean we all fall victim to it. I just ate 4 goldfish crackers that I really have no intention of logging. But being honest about it is really the first step in figuring out what is going wrong!
