New to the Group

Hi. My name is Jada Monet, I'm 22, and I'm new to the group. My rheumatologist suggested I eat low carb when I started chemo back in 2009, and when I did, I lost weight rapidly (270 to 200 in 3-3.5 months). I initially attempted to stop eating low carb because I thought that that was too quick to lose so much weight, especially when I did not go to the gym at all. Nevertheless, my weight loss continued and plateaued at around 185, I’m 170 now. When I attempted to return to eating a "regular" diet, I found that I no longer desired carbs. I became lax with my diet and basically ate whatever I wanted, while unintentionally avoiding carbs. I never gained the weight back and I was content with my weight. However, now that my disease (Juvenile Dermatomyositis) is under control for the most part, I want to get in good shape, strengthen my muscles, and live a healthy lifestyle. In the past two weeks I have actively incorporated carbs into my diet and have attempted to calculate calories and found that it is so much work. I am going back to my regular low carb way of life and will actually plan to lose weight; in the past, that was not necessarily my goal. I am interested in adding friends, so that I can see people’s diaries and get food ideas.

Great to have you around, I too have become tired of carbs, when I eat them the weight rapidly returns, after a very long time of going on and off atkins / low carb / keto, i have learned to just do it for my health, my diabeties is in remission when I eat this way also, I have been on a platue of sorts and some of us are messing around with atkins fat fast at times to break the stall. it will be good to see you around here on the atkins boards, be sure to join the low carb group and the keto group here as the same people tend to hit those also and the subjects are very simular,
