While working my through the couch to 5k training program in early August I injured my IT band. I started running too fast and messed up my posture. Big mistake. Out for 4 weeks to recover. I restarted from the beginning and today marks the point in the training program when I injured myself. This time I am going slower, attending to my posture, doing IT band strengthening exercises and feel good. Go slow is my new mantra and it seems to be working.

I agree 100%, I learned the hard way; I didn't injure myself, but I started and quit at least 7 times before this time.

I hope you continue to heal and improve.

"Slow down!" was the best advice I got when I was starting c25k!

The advice to go slow is good, and just reminding yourself that it's okay to take it easy is really helpful.

I keep telling myself that slow and steady *finishes* the race. I don't need to win...I just want to get to the finish line.
