hi everyone
just wondering what foods contain trans fats? I'm guessing they are something still to be avoided even on a keto diet?

I think if you avoid processed foods, that eliminates most transfats issues. Otherwise, isn't it just in bad oils? Stick with olive oil and sesame oil, I believe, and you'll be fine.0

These were big in the hydrogenated vegetable oils. Most of these have been phased out these days. Avoid those still.
Transfats can occur naturally too. I believe there's debate as to whether naturally occurring transfats have the same risk associated with the hydrogenated vegetable oils. Even some research showing that the naturally occuring transfats could be beneficial.
I enjoy my ghee, butter, bacon fat, and coconut oil, and sometimes some MCT Oil. Look for sources that have higher Omega 3's (butter from grass-fed cows is recommended for that reason, i.e. Kerrygold).0 -

This is how I understand it as well. We try to stay away from hydrogenated veggie oils (cotton seed, partially hydrogenated, etc.) It's easy since we've gone keto as it's usually in convenience foods with a long list of other ingredients. This includes cookies, chips and various other snack foods that we just don't buy anymore.
We use ghee, virgin coconut oil, and bacon fat for cooking & EVOO for salads & dressings. We also use KerryGold & wish it was within our budget to eat grass fed beef, but here in LI, NY.....it's cost prohibitive :ohwell:0
