Have you ever tried adding oats to your smoothies? I do it a lot, especially when I'm using it as a meal because it fills you up longer. You can use any kind of oats you like. I've heard of some people grinding the oats in a food processor first but I think that depends on the kind your using. Here's a recipe that's especially good for breakfast. If you don't like bananas you can always use a different fruit!

BANANA OAT SMOOTHIE

-1/4 cup oats
-1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt
- 1 banana,
- 2 tsp. honey
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Ice (optional)

Depending on how strong your blender is (mine isn't too strong) so I blend the yogurt, banana and honey first, then I add the oats with the rest and blend again.

'Tis the season for all things pumpkin! This recipe originally came from Oxygen magazine last year and then I made tweaks to my liking. It ends up pretty thick, so either cut down on oats or add water if you don't like them thick.

    Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

    1/2 cup dry oats
    1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    1/4-1/3 cup canned pumpkin purée
    1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. stevia in the raw

I blend the oats with the protein powder first, and then add other ingredients. Make substitutions for milk and sweetener to your liking. If pumpkin pie spice is hard to find in your stores; use cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice.

    Enjoy!
