Who or what are you sacrificing your health for? And what is your reason for doing it?
Notice I did not say, "Excuse". We (people) like to assign blame for why something is out of place. The truth is there are many good and valid reasons why one let's their health go. These reasons are usually unselfish and very commendable.
One of my largest clients is almost 400lbs. He explained he often put himself 3rd, 4th and 7th behind his wife, kids, job, and two handicap parents he cared for. He ate between sponge baths and bed turnings and rarely took time for himself. That's not lazy, that's commendable.
During my time as a trainer, associate pastor, foreign missionary, father, and husband I have learned LIFE IS FINITE.Many of us sacrifice self for others. This is a good thing BUT IS IT THE BEST THING?
For my 400lb client his parents depended on his health for their well being. I explained, being selfish with 1-2 hours of his day would bless more people in the long run. And have for the last several month been trying to convince him, HE IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT!
