2 weeks ago I blew away my DL 1RM by 16% (went from 335 to 390). That was awesome. Sara suggested I try sumo vs. romanian. That rocked and fit my anatomy much better.
I got brave this week and posted a squat form video on here. Lots of good feedback, but one comment caught my interest: "it looks like you are doing high bar squats." That intrigued me because I have inflexible shoulders and started with the bar on my neck. Finally got enough flexibility to get the bar down to where I thought was the correct spot. After the comment on here, I did some research and turns out I was just doing high bar squats thinking they were low bar. Wonder what they would have called where I first started with the bar (on my neck)? Just stupid, I guess.
I dropped the bar down an inch and holy crap! Everything fell into place. Balance was awesome. The lifts felt easy. My knees were great. I got to my 3 rep max working weight and cranked out 5 reps and stopped. This was obviously a joker day. 1x225 (old PR). 1x245. 1x275. Could have gone heavier but form was breaking down. Then pyramid back down through the same 3 sets. Got done and still have energy. I think I'll leave it at that for now.
So thanks to ETP, so far, I have gone from 335 to 390 on DL and 225 to 275 on squat. I'm most happy about squat. Thanks to everyone.

I know I didn't actually get that much stronger from last week. Just nice to know what a well balanced squat feels like.0

High five! What were you doing to get the shoulder flexibility to get the bar lower?0

I did foam rolling and door stretches for 20 minutes prior to squatting. That helped a lot.0 -
