I'm planning to do the Birmingham Great Run in October, which I expect will take me around 3 hours. I quite often will run before breakfast, without any great loss of energy, but that's usually only an hour or so. I need to decide what to eat for breakfast on race day, especially on these last 3 weeks of training.
Do you always eat before running? I hear that this is recommended, so I'd probably have some oats in soy milk with nuts and raisins, which I hope will give me a slow energy release.
Another option would be to plan to eat immediately after the race. I understand that something highly nutritious should be taken within 30 minutes of completing a race. Any comments or advice please would be welcomed!

If you are going to eat...start now so your body gets use to it. You don't want to do anything different on race day. I have not done such a long run but I would have something light - what you have suggested sounds perfect.0
