Nine Month Update

So I met with my surgeon and NUT the other day and they are thrilled with my progress. I have 9 more pounds to go before I am deemed a "success" by medical standards, and I have three months to hit that goal. I told them that in my book, I was already a success. Here is a tiny list of what I can do post-op that I never could pre-RNY:
I can walk for miles and miles without pain and without running out of breath.
I can do a 5K, because I did!
I can fit into a normal stall in the bathroom, and now don't have to wait for the bigger stall to become available.
I can fly in an airplane without the extra belt.
I can shop for normal clothes off the rack.
I can sleep through the night, and have never woken up vomiting with acid reflux like I used to do all the time.
I can wear heels, and even though they hurt my feet after a long day, I do it anyway because I can.
I can look at myself in a mirror and recognize that it is me.
I can wear cute dresses, that fall above the knee because my legs are skinny enough to look good.
I can lift weights, do crunches, and execute yoga moves that I never though were possible.
I will give a full report once I hit my year, but wanted those of you who are just starting to find some encouragement in the process.

Congratulations!! That's a great acheivment. My surgery is November 20th and can't wait until I can experience some of those same successes.0

Thanks for sharing your success. I'm two months out and going in the right direction. I find I'm looking people in the eye more than I used to.0

Of ALL those entries on your 'success' list, I think the best one is " I can look at myself in a mirror and recognize that it is me. "
Most of us have decided to pursuit and endure pre&post op for that simply stated comment. We know what we look like and we've missed that look - obscured by what has happened to us - for what ever reason.
Now your 'look' is back and your health, as well! Amazing motivation to continue down that path.
Congratulations :drinker:0 -
Thanks so much for sharing your victories!! I am looking forward to experiencing some of those as well.
I am scheduled 10/21 for surgery. On the 2 week liquid diet right now. I also am looking forward to some victories: The biggest one being: having my husband see me under 200 pounds!! I have been married over 40 years and my husband has never seen me under 200 pounds....
When I read your success, it truly gives me hope.0 -
Inspiring! Funny, most of those are on my weight-loss bucket list too!0
