DAILY CHECK IN- Oct 5th 2013

My knee really hurts today, I tried to run but after 5 minutes I knew it wasn't going to happen. So I did 30 minutes of biking instead along with lots of weight training. I've also worked a lot today 6:30 am to 10:30 am, 1:15 to 2:30, and I'm waiting to work 5:30 to 9:00, so I wasn't sad to skip the running :). Still got a good work out in :).

    Sorry about the knee gymgirl. You are right not to push it.

    I ran a 5k this morning. Due to a mixup, the posted results before the awards ceremony had me as 4th in my age group. Come to find out, the supposed 1st place winner in my age group was actually in another age group. Good think I stuck around for the awards ceremony as I got 3rd place medal! I ran in 28 minutes and 40 seconds. That is a minute slower than my PR but I can't say I could have run faster. It was a flat out and back course so not the most scenic. Its funny. I tell myself I'm going to speed up at mile 2 before the actual race. By mile 1, I'm wondering if I'm going to continue at my current pace. I've always heard a lot of it is mental. I try and tell myself its over quicker if I keep running:)

    I dislocated my knee in high school, unfortunately it sometimes flares up from time to time. I've also dislocated my shoulder, and my jaw, broken countless bones including my back... I'm sort of dreading working out in the cold winter months, but looking forward to the snow!!
