Knee wraps

Thought I would start this thread for Sara. I got 2 sets of knee wraps in and tried them out today on squats. One set was just a 78" wrap. That worked well but was not quite long enough to get a double wrap (up and down). I also got a set off amazon that had velcro. While easier / faster to get on and off, they were no where near long enough. But I liked them better than the non-velcro types. Easier to loosen and tighten between sets (and you will want to loosen them between sets).
In use, they both worked the same. I did my warmup sets without any wraps. For the working sets, I started with a medium tightness that was tight but not real tight. For my joker sets, I wrapped them tight. They really helped knee stability. A lot. They were great for that.
As for performance, I could not tell (I did set a new PR but I think I could have done that without the wraps). It did seem easier to get out of the hole with the wraps vs. no wraps. But you have to wrap them very tight to get any performance benefit. Tight enough that you have to unwrap them between sets or you won't get any blood into your lower leg. If I were going into a comp, I would use them. For every day lifting, I might just skip them. But they were awesome for knee stability and that has been an issue for me since my DL has gone heavy.
Next week is a deload week so I won't be able to try them for DL for a while. I think I will use them on DL just because of the knee stability they provide.
Would like to hear from others that use knee wraps.

thought I would give my 2 cents as nobody had posted.
can't say I have ever seen/heard of anyone wrapping their knees for deadlifts.....what is exactly is happening are you're knees caving in? Might just be a case of needing to adjust your stance...sometimes people don't give themselves enough room between their grip to push the knees out in to if that makes sense.
If you are going to wrap them all the time I would suggest doing some assistance work to fix the core problem, single leg squatting/training is great for the glutes and knee stability.0 -
