Advice for a newbie with a bad leg/ankle injury?

Hey guys, I've looked at the faq on the Keto sub on reddit, but I wondered if anyone has any advice that they wish they had considered when they first started out? I broke my leg in three places and very badly dislocated my ankle a few months ago, which I'm at the stage of physio with, but I will be having my third operation on it at Christmas time. I have a set of weights and am already using those, but it wondered if anyone has any ideas for low impact lower body exercise I could do. At the moment my ankle joint cannot move properly and I cannot walk too far without extreme pain and swelling.
The main reason I've started keto is the injury, being 5st overweight is only making things worse, and I'm sure it was a factor in the severity of my break/dislocation in the first place.
Any advice at all would be amazing. I've changed my carb/protein/fat goal percentages, and I have a couple of databases with foods and their values, but any other tools that you find invaluable, or habits to watch out for etc would be much appreciated.

That's hard - especially since you have to have another surgery in Dec. The last thing you want to do is have a set back. You should ask your doc or physical therapist what you can do without causing additional injury. Personally, I'd stick with pilates, low keyed yoga, etc, but your doc and/or PT should ok all of your exercises.
I understand your frustration. I had a cartilage transplant in 2002 and got pregnant the month after (was on fertility drugs, so not unexpected). So, I didn't recover from my surgery prior to my body going through mass changes due to pregnancy. After a difficult birth, I slowly started back to exercising. 9 months later, I retore the implanted cartilage (and now have none) and it took another 6 months to get back to more normal exercising. So, I can totally relate to your frustration, but also understand how important it is to work with your body's limitations and within your doc's advice.
Good luck!0
