Crossfit Level 1 coaches just have a weekend of training

Anyone thinking about joining Crossfit should know this:

The Crossfit organization allows anyone that pays the money, takes a weekend training and answers some multiple choice questions to be a Level 1 Crossfit trainer. Even if they had no athletic training experience beyond that one weekend workshop!

Many people in the athletic training field find this practice very irresponsible, as there's NO WAY anyone can learn enough about athletic training in a weekend to safely train clients in all the potentially dangerous exercise moves you have in Crossfit workouts!

How does this compare to a Body Pump instructor?

It's true. I could pay 1,000 to get my level 1 certification within a weekend, open a box, pay my annual license fees - and start leading crossfit classes.

I could also open another gym franchise and lead workout classes too. No certifications required if you're the owner. There are bad coaches everywhere, it isn't crossfit specific.

If you're new to fitness, and you jump into a workout where you're lifting heavier than you should be and generally over working yourself - you may get injured. There are boxes where they realize this, and recommend you take it easy until you get used to the workload. There are also boxes where they don't.
