If you are in induction phase I now, I need your support. I have a very loving, too loving husband, who says he loves me thick or thin and I do not need to diet.... Well someone posted a picture of me on Facebook today, and it is my inspiration to DO THIS! However, I need support, encouragement, hard *kitten* friends, who will keep me motivated, on track and people who will call me out when I start to slip up. I will do the same for you if that is what you need. I need someone to make sure I am drinking enough water, someone to make sure I took at least a 20 minute walk each day at minimal for exercise, someone to check on me to ask if I went over my 20 net carbs for the day.... Anyone out there willing to be a buddy?

I'm kinda always in and out of phase 1....I don't follow Atkins to a T with specific phases but I can be there for questions and support! Good luck...you can do this! I also have been slipping alot so I need to be more strict with myself.0

I started Induction today. Very much a newbie to Atkins. I got a copy of the "New Atkins" book. I love the food list for Induction. However I found myself heavy in carbs and calories today. EEEEEKKKKK!!!! I must plan a little better tomorrow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated for all of us new to this program. but boy oh boy does it work!!! I watched a co-worker drop a lot of weight in a brief period of time on Atkins. He was following the old plan as this was before the revised version came out.0

I'm on day 11 of phase 1. And I don't live at induction...I move directly onto OWL on day 15. But I am certainly here for support. And the rules aren't all that different in the first part of OWL--I just get to eat more veggies.0

I did low carb a few years ago for over 9 months of "actively" doing it and it all becomes second nature and routine.
I think the best way is to plan ahead. At work I bring eggs and just heat 2 up in the microwave in a mug. I've added spinach, some cream cheese, or some shredded cheese. I make a few days worth of lunches on Sunday or Monday and divide them into containers or zip lock bags. When you go out to eat you'll learn to watch out for things....use creamy dressings (not french, or anything fat free (fat free or low fat is a sign you need to look for added sugar which equals CARBS)), nothing with breading, and the obvious no pasta, no bread. When you start eating things like almonds (which I eat as a snack often), portion them out so you aren't underestimating how many you are eating. I literally count them out and then put the package or container back so I don't just keep reaching in for more.
I haven't read the new or old Atkins book, but from my understanding one difference is the old book counts all carbs and the new Atkins book is focused on NET carbs (which is carbs minus dietary fiber and sugar alcohols). I've had loss with eating the Atkins meal bars, but others don't tolerate the sugar alcohols and gain or not lose using them.0 -
i tend to stay on induction pretty much full time, I do the old atkins books, i only play the "net carb" game on occasion, when i have too, like at a resturaunt or at a friends house,, I know those peanuts or mixed nuts have some carbs and some fiber and result in a net combination, but its so SO SO easy to get caught up in too many carbs and stall the wieght loss, but with that said, using the new book I feel can make a person happier in the long run, with more choices, ill do low carb vegies on occasion, but not regularly, if the scale moves for you, your in business!,, but if you stall or platue you may need to remove those carbs for a short while to get you moving,,0

I'm doing the old Atkins plan. Tonight I had steak and lobster with steamed broccoli, it was delicious and only 4 carbs.....LOVE IT!!0

I did very well for breakfast and lunch. Broke after dinner and snacked including a bowl of old fashioned oats with berries. Today's eating looks way way better!!!0 -
