Waiting on Gastric Sleeve

Hello! I am new here, and I am in the process of getting ready for surgery. On Tuesday I will see psych and nutrition, as well as go for my month 5 weigh-in. I started trying to make changes in May, which have led to the surgery decision. I have lost 36# on my own so far. I am a little overwhelmed at times. I am currently doing low carb as part of my pre-surgery diet. I have so many questions! I look forward to learning a lot from all of you.

Hello and welcome to our little group here.

It's amazing that you've already lost 36 lbs without having the surgery; that's incredible and shows me you're very determined. Hopefully you'll soon get a surgery date to have the Gastric Sleeve. I had mine done at the end of July, and it's amazing how much better I feel already. With your determination, I'm sure you're going to do great.

My only advise at this point, is to learn all you can; stock up your cupboards of what foods you can eat afterwards; and if you have caffine to eliminate from your current diet, begin doing so now; same with carbonnated drinks.

Please keep us posted on your progress.
  • Thanks for the welcome! It has been a long 6 months! I have not lost this much weight in years. My doctor has me doing 1 small thing each month to adapt. I can eat on a smaller plate, no big deal. (In fact, I am sometimes amazed at how little I eat now (serving size) and still feel full. I am embracing a 30g of carbs/day diet (with some oopsies, but I am trying HARD). However, I have a hard time not drinking when I eat, and I want my Diet Pepsi! I am working on it, though.
