The UAC sounds rigid, but it's actually a very customizable challenge. Here are some ways UAC can work for you:
Q: "I'm pretty heavy and I can't exercise a lot. I don't think I can exercise every day for 20 minutes."
A: You don't have to exercise by going to the gym or doing anything intensive. Simply cleaning your house for 20 minutes every day counts as exercise, for this challenge.
Q: "I can exercise for 20 minutes with my eyes closed. Give me a REAL challenge!"
A: 20 minutes is just the minimum. If you can exercise for two hours a day, and if you want to make "exercise for 2 hours every day" your personal goal, that's fine. If you fail to exercise for 2 hours, remove yourself from the group.
Q: "I want to do this challenge, but I like having a day every week when I can eat whatever I want."
A: I do too. That's why, once a week, I make my calorie budget something ridiculously high. That way, I'll stay within my budget and remain in the challenge, but I'll have a day off too.
Q: "My birthday is this month and I really want to celebrate it."
A: Simply adjust your calorie goal that day. Make it something high. You will still have to exercise for 20 minutes, but cleaning up after the party for 20 minutes counts.
Q: "I'm doing Weight Watchers. We don't count calories in WW; we count points."
A: When you see the question, "Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?" just mentally replace the word "calorie" with the word "point."
Q: I'm not online a lot. I'm not sure I can sign in every 3 days.
A: That's okay. Just shoot me a message saying that you require more time for sign-ins, and I'll make a note of it on my spreadsheet.
Q: I like to eat back my calories after I exercise.
A: Your calorie budget is entirely up to you. If you want to "eat back" calories burned during exercise, that's okay. Just make sure to keep track of it all.
