Getting rid of old clothes?

What have you all done with your old clothing? Did you just donate all of them, or did you have luck selling them? I have a bed overflowing with old clothes right now that are in good shape (I discarded the worn/stained items), some pieces I never ever wore. Some were very pricy and I would like to try to sell them to recoup some money but I don't know where or how. Any advice?

we have consignment stores, Clothes Mentor is one, Turnstyle is another in our area. I did very well selling good large size clothing that were suitable for work. I also found a group that gave clothing to people when they were training them for the work world. Large size, nice work place clothing is a much needed item. For a long time, I shopped in consignment, rather than purchase and then purchase again. I went from a 4x plus to a regular large or XL. A size 28 pants to a petite 12. Now anticipating a sucessful body contouring proceedure, I wonder if I will need to repeat this process again.... Doc predicts 1-2 size different in Jeans, and a big difference in shirts, as the belly will be gone.

Our surgeons office also held clothing exchanges twice a year...... Rummage sales? Just get rid of them cause you need to know you are done with those large clothing sizes

All of mine were donated to the Christian charity in my town. I think so far I've donated about 10 huge boxes and several lawn and leaf sized bags. Much of the clothing still had the tags on, some only worn once or twice. Clothing ranging from size 24 to size 10.

Ditto on the donate. I took a lot in to Clothes Mentor but they wouldn't buy any of it. Even though they had the same brands in the store. Hardly worth the headache. Getting ready to get rid of a bunch more soon. The space in the closet feels as good as the extra space in the jeans!

I give away/donate a lot, and I have sold a few of the nicer things on eBay. It helps to fund the new stuff I buy :-)

I was planning on selling my nicer stuff at a local plus-size consignment shop, but they went out of business. Donation for everything is the plan now. If you keep track, you can write off on your taxes. I keep track of mine using an online tool called itsdeductible.
  • Have done the same as Stroynaya...I donate & keep track on "itsdeductible." That handy tool pulls right into TurboTax at tax time.

I do have a few really nice things that I may take to a consignment shop. Haven't tried ebay, but my daughter-in-law sells things on there all the time.

Best thing, is get rid of what doesn't fit!!! We won't be needing those sizes any longer!! YAY!!
