I am here to support my friend (and admittedly am doing a poor job of it)
She is going to have banding. Who here has had it and how can i help her??
I am just terribly concerned for her and tend to worry when i talk to her rather than be helpful
I would like to know about folks experience with banding, how it helped you and how it can help her

btw i am also overweight and stuck so i DO know what its like :(

thanks in advance

Sheri

I had the RNY, not the band, but my friends have been awesome. Especially the one who served my pre-op protein drink in a fancy glass at her dinner party when I couldn't eat the fabulous food she prepared. Basically, the most important is to let your friend know you're there for whatever support needed and then let your friend tell you what they need.

It's okay to express concern by asking the same question you asked in your post. Then let her explain. Just end the conversation by making sure she knows you support her. BTW--From my pre-surgery research: The band is a restrictive surgery that puts a band around the stomach. When the band is filled, it restricts your stomach and the amount you can eat before feeling full.
