Holiday Hurdle #1 - Halloween

So tomorrow is my first of six free days I've set aside between now and year end. We are having a snack day and costume contest at work and I will consider it a success if I eat no more than 1970 net calories (that's 500 over my usual goal). I also have a plan to stay at least close to the tracks:
1) I have added the recipes that I am taking to my diary so that I can log those easily.
2) I am taking my extra-lean turkey chili so that I have a healthy option for my actual lunch.
3) I am going to take my usual lunch time walk, plus do a couple of slow miles around the neighborhood trick or treating.
4) I am going to up my water and cut back my coffee by one cup each. (My water cup at work is an 18 oz. travel mug. My coffee mug holds 12 oz.)
5) I am going to wear a 'skinny dress' (a size medium) to remind myself why I don't want to totally jump overboard.
6) I am going to have fun.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I will report in between work and trick or treating to let you know how I did with Hurdle #1. Wish me luck!

I bought candy I do not like.

There is a pizza Halloween party at work, and I am wearing a 'skinny' outfit so can't eat too much!

Upping my water (AND coffee, thanks to the World Series!)

Planning my meals and snacks out ahead of time.

Down .6 lbs so far - WE GOT THIS!

We don't pass out candy so that cut out the extra being at my house... and the cany that my kids are going to bring home I will let them pick out some and bring the rest to work to give away...
My plan is to get off work get my kids and leave them at work and go do my 4 mile run before we go trick or treating... so I'm going to EARN my extra calories that I may eat... even when its not Halloween I earn my food... If I want pizza for dinner I make sure I push my self that much harder so I don't go over...
I drink at least 3 liters of water all ready so I may just up that to 4 liters today.. I'm dressing up for trick or treating so I want to look less fat then I am so I'm just going to eat my food that I brought...

I already did the treat table at work. I'm very proud of myself! I took a couple things but didn't really enjoy them. I'll have to remind myself of that for the rest of the day so I don't go back. Normally I find myself eating things that I don't even think taste all that great just for the sake of eating it. I can DO it! :)

I DID IT!!!! I just finished dinner and I have caloriesnleft from my regular goal. It is windy and threatening to rain so I will be making myself a LARGE coffee to drink while treating, but I have the walking to burn thatoff. Holiday hurdle #1 is cleared.
I didn't even want the junk food.

I failed the Halloween hurdle:/ Haven't eaten any sweets in so long, that now I ate more than my quota and my belly aches. That teaches me!

Its good to hear from everyone: the good and the bad. We have to share our failures and our successes. It helps to keep it real in here, as well as to get support in dusting ourselves off and trying again.

I did really well with Halloween. But I don't have kids, so I admit to having an easier time! But with the work stuff, I just told myself: no to candy at work. But it wasn't just for Halloween, its my consistent rule. I just don't eat candy and sweets from work. Ever. Because there is a little candy dish out *all year round.* I pass it about 25 times a day. And when I'm there on the weekends, no one will even see me if I eat the whole dish! Its not like I never eat sweets or desserts. But I eat them on my terms. For occasions I've decided on ahead of time. I went to a birthday party last weekend and had cheesecake and wine. But impulse treats are out for me. I actually find it easier to have consistent policies. Otherwise, I have to "decide" 25 times a day to say no. Instead, I just decide one big no.
