Resistance Bands

Has anyone tried using resistance bands with their squats, bench and deads? If so, was it worth it? Did you have any noticeable strength gains from it?

Thanks!

  • Westside Barbell programs with them for dynamic effort days. I'm about to get some bands myself. Accommodating resistance!

I've used bands for both resistance and reverse lifts (i.e.) taking the load off the bottom. Honestly, they are a fun toy but I wouldn't go out and buy more.

A couple people I know use resistance bands in a different way. They wrap the barbell bench with them in order to hold an arch. They run the band on the outside of the bench pad so when you lay down on the bench you're laying on the bands (and not the pad). They say that the rubber makes it easier to hold an arch since the padded bench is slick.

@ChrisLindsay9. To train the back arch on bench I use three empty water bottles and duct tape them together.

Re: Bands. I've used them since the 90s on some of my dynamic days. They help with getting speed on the bottom end of the lift and also for getting stuff like tricep strength.
