Plank Rows in workout 6?

I have an issue with the plank rows (with weights) in this workout. It's not the exercise itself but it's the weights. I find that the weights make it really uncomfortable and hard to do. I can't seem to grab the weights so they don't hurt my hands. Sorry if I'm not making sense, but does anyone else know what I mean? The weights I use look almost identical to the ones they are using in the video.

    It's painful!
    Don't hold the weight with the hand that is resting on the ground.
    On week 11 (I think) she says that you can do it that way.
    That's what I did.

    I always put folded blanket under weights, it definitely helps amortize the movement:)
