Weird Scalp Burning?

I recently switched from Levoxyl to Tirosint (8 weeks ago). After FINALLY feeling good on the Tirosint- I began experiencing this weird scalp burning sensation only on the left side. I'm almost certain it's only on my scalp and not an actual headache. It's fine when I wake up in the morning, but then starts hurting about 2 hours later. Has anyone experienced this? (For reference, I also take Cytomel).

Another lovely symptom of thyroid disease is scalp sensitivity. It might be what you are experiencing. I get it when I have a certain clip in my hair or have headphones on that put even a slight weight on my head. It was worse when I was on too high a dose of my meds. Is there something coming into contact with your head (hat, propping on hands, hair clip, etc) on that side that might be causing the discomfort? I have also had little shooting pains, without wearing hair clips, but luckily it happens rarely. Haven't totally figured that part out yet.

Only a hairband when I have my hair up- it's so strange because it just started Monday- the 8 week mark of me being on Tirosint. I actually do think my levels are too high and am getting my blood tested Tuesday- I have a few hyper symptoms. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this! At first I Thought I had a brain tumor or something!

Hi Ashley - I too take Tirosint and I can tell you that when I take Cytomel I experience the burning scalp sensation. I'm supposed to take 5mcg in am and at 1 pm take another 5mcg, which makes the burning even worse!. Prior to Tirosint I took Armour for years, but never experienced burning scalp until recently which is why my Endo switched me to Tirosint.

Hmm, yesterday I did not take my Cytomel and had no burning...NONE. Today, I took it and the burning started just as you stated 2-3 hours after taking started to burn, and when I ran my fingers thru my hair some shed and I feel anxious today where I did not yesterday.

Going to just take Tirosint the rest of the week, and see if the burning scalp/hair shed stops completely. I'll let you know my results:)
