Hello everyone, I call myself Niki (which is from my first and last name in private).

I'm a young 68 ½ year old retiree, and I have Diabetes II which I don't always control very well. I've been a member of MFP, off and on, for about 20 months, and currently have been on since August.

This is the first group I've ever joined, and given that I am over 100 pounds overweight, I could have joined several … but I'm such a private person that joining just one is a big hurdle for me.

My hopes for joining a group is to share in discussions with others who are in the same boat, and to learn from those who have succeeded in maintaining a tight control over their blood glucose.

Welcome back. I''ve been using MFP since last Christmas. Started Byetta/Bydureon for tighter diabetic control September 2012. At the time my A1C was 7.5 The medicine and good control of my eating has led to an 82 pound loss and an A1C of 6. Reading the boards has really been an encouragement to me - hope this will be for you, too.

Thanks for the encouragement. If I don't get a better control on my readings my doctor is planning to make medication changes at the next visit.
