increased fat macro's

I'm gluten intolerant and since getting rid of wheat products my macros have changed so carbs are smaller and fat content is larger (I'm trying to up my protein as well) . Some days my fat content is as much as 50% of my macros. Is this okay? I'm really struggling with this. To make up for the huger for carbs I have been eating a lot of dairy products and meats. I'm trying to lose weight so this is worrying to me.

Your diary isn't open so I cant actually see what you are eating to get 50% fat.

No, 50% fat isnt healthy. Mine is around 30%. Some days I go over but usually those days include some kind of processed or fried food. Fat is important to the diet but It largely depends on where you are getting those fats.

Are you eating fresh fruits and veggies? Do you eat legumes, quinoa and other gf Grains? Those should be balancing your fat intake and providing your other macro numbers. I think I have my carb set at 40%, protein for 30% and my fat is 30%. Its about balance. Set your macros at a ratio that works for you and try to hit them. My carb number is naturally low but not because I am restricting it, I eat gf carbs in moderation they just dont add up as quick as wheat products do. I try to eat variety to meet my micronutrient requirements too.

I eat a lot of dairy like greek yogurt, cheese, etc
  • You might try adding a protein bar like Quest to up the protein without the fat.
