Insanity advice please!

Hi! I was wondering if anyone can re-assure me? I'm on Recovery Week and have followed the exercise programme to the letter. I've given every workout my all! For a start my calorie burn seems low compared to others I've seen ie about 280 for the first months workouts and about 180 for Recovery Week. I was fit to start with - I've been doing Bob Harper DVDs for some time! My biggest concern though is that I gained 2lb the second week and have not yet lost it. I didn't want to lose weight, but I certainly don't want to gain it either! I started on 2300 calories an day, as per the nutrition guide, but have now dropped that to 2000 with a 40/40/20 macro split. Also my measurements haven't changed yet either. I'm not losing motivation yet but I am puzzled and a little disappointed!

I’m right there with you. I’m half way through week 4 and I have gained .5 lbs and not lost a single inch (body fat % hasn’t changed either). I feel no different with the exception that my cardio conditioning is so much better (which I am really enjoying and I think HIIT is making me a better athlete for it), but eating at a 250 – 500 calorie a day deficient for 5-6 days a week (1 to 2 days I hit pretty close to maintenance. Nothing too crazy to throw off a hard week's work). I thought I’d see at least a pound or two gone by now or a half an inch here or there. I know I’m not of much help, but I want to let you know we’re in the same boat. I keep telling myself to trust the process because I’m friends with so many who have done insanity on MFP and they all look amazing after the 60 days is over.0

I really do feel better that I'm not the only one! Looking forward to seeing results in Month 2 - you and me both :drinker:0 -

I started insanity on 1 October so only have a few more days and I'm done!!
I didn't really see any results, in a month I lost 2lbs and 1% body fat. I wasn't following the nutrition guide strictly but still expected more than that. I was a bit disheartened and thought about giving up then read posts on here of people saying month 2 is when the results happen.......thankfully this is true.
I haven't weighed myself since the end of month 1 as I didn't want the scale to put me off, I just wanted to power on with month 2 and just see if it worked at the end. So whilst I can't give you metrics right now I can tell you I have noticed a big difference with my body. My clothes are looser and just looking in the mirror I can tell I've lost fat all over, face, chest, arms, stomach etc and I feel great! I don't really care what the numbers say now I've got the results I was hoping for without needing the scale to confirm it.
So to sum up...keep going! Month 2 is where it's at0 -
Yeah it's a shame that I screwed my knee over with 2 weeks to go, bit bummed as I'll pretty much have to start from scratch as not been able to exercise much. However I did manage to achieve 2lb and 18 inches in the 6.5 weeks I did insanity.
Fingers crossed for when I start again after new year!0 -

This is very reassuring. I have decided to put away the scale as well as my weight fluctuates by 3lbs when I'm not doing anything differently. I know it could be water retention but it is disheartening. Month 2 starts next week for me and I can't wait.0 -
i put on 5lbs the first 2 weeks of insanity and 2lb over all, but i lost bodyfat so it didnt matter!0

Final day of insanity today. Going away for the week so won't have access to scales to weigh myself tomorrow so did it this morning instead.
Final results:
Weight lost - 12lbs
Body fat % lost - 4%
I'm now 134lbs and 5'8" so a BMI of 20.4. As you can see I was not overweight to start with, so hopefully that puts my results into perspective as it's more difficult to lose weight when you are near your goal.
I hope you see similar results when you are done with month 2!0 -

Thanks for this! I too think it's time to put away the scale. Month one disappointed me in that regard. I too am in a healthy weight range so I know it's going to be harder to get those results. Time to soldier on.0
