Meal plans

Do you follow the nutrition guide that goes with your program? I keep hearing that "abs are made in the kitchen" and I am horrible with food. I lost a great deal of weight just with the workouts and now I would like to focus on meal planning or prepping. I just don't know where to begin. I cook once per meal and eat with my family. So I am confused with the prep. Can someone please tell me where or how to begin so I could continue my journey. Thanks! ^.^
