I did a semi-hungover, unmotivated W3D2 run today in the 17 degree + wind chill weather. By the last 3 minute run, I am quite sure my legs weighed 200 pounds each...
I had to take a week off due to knee injury after week 2, and then did W3D1 on Thursday. I was very surprised that I felt really good during that run - as if I hadn't had that week off. Today - another story. That last run kicked my butt, but I made it through - this was, by far, the hardest run I've had since the first day. It's runs like these that make me wonder if I can make it through this! Just hoping the next run feels better!!

You've listed a lot of reasons why this run was so hard. Despite that you did it. Recognize this. You are a runner and you can do this.
We all have bad runs. This won't be your last. But you persevered and did it. Realize how wonderful that it. It's a great achievement. Your next run will feel great. You are a runner and a bad run won't stop you. Right?0 -
Sometimes you have a bad run.
Sometimes there's no reason for it. This time there were a lot of reasons but, as Plexgut said, you did it.
The next run has to be better, right?0 -
Wow! If I didn't know any better id say I wrote this. I also took a week off due to knee issues and jumped right back in where I left off. I did w3d2 yesterday in the same conditions as you, layered up and got out there. I had to mentally tell myself over and over that there was only two 3 min runs and that there is no way I couldn't hang. And I did it!!! Second 3 minute was surprisingly easier than the first, went by faster, despite a slight incline. You have to mentally push your way through it... While simultaneously listening to your body to avoid injury. Simply put, there is no way you can't finish this, bad runs and all. Keep pushing0

Thanks, everyone. You are right, I did push through it, but one knee now feels worse. This is so frustrating to me! I am going to be gone the next few days for Thanksgiving, and am going to rest my knees. Hoping with all my heart that I will be healed and able to be back to running. I don't want to lose my motivation!!
I appreciate the helpful words.0 -
Make sure you aren't reaching out in front of you. Instead try to have your foot land close to your center of gravity.0
