Hello New Here

Hi, I am new here to the group. I am cutting alcohol out of my diet in order to lose weight. I have to say, I have been drinking a bottle of wine per night most nights for the last 6 years (with the exception of the time during my two pregnancies). Needless to say, I have put on over 30 pounds over these years. I realize I have kids and my body has changed, I may never be a size 3 again, but I want to be healthy. When I was pregnant with my son, I weighed less after I had him than I did before I got pregnant. All of my weight was baby but then I began drinking and put the weight back on again.

I am tired of feeling unmotivated and having wine on my mind after the kids go to bed every night. I have abstained before and successfully lost weight....but I always go back after losing about 10 pounds. I know I can quit, it is just hard because it is my relaxing activity that I look forward to at night after dealing with a 2 year old and a 4 year old every day all day. I generally do not get a break because my husband works over 60 hours per week and I have no friends or family near by. I guess wine has been a comfort and a friend to me.

Anyway, I need all of the support and friendship I can get. Alcoholism runs in my family and that is another reason I want to kick it before it becomes a real problem. I look at my dad and would hate to end up like him. His addiction has cost him almost everything except his life.

Feel free to add me as a friend or message me anytime. I am definitely looking to meeting others like myself and sharing stories and being there for support.

You have written so much and so well.

IT is obvious you know what the situation is. And you know what to do. And like 47 billion other people, you have to find the motivation to act and change. I have had a lot of help with a book called KAIZEN, Small steps to Change Your Life. Written by a prof at UCLA.

Hang in there and believe what your body is telling you.
