Stomach Pain a Year After Surgery

It's been more than 14 months since I had gastric bypass and I never once had any stomach issues, other than some constipation here and there. For the last week I have had really bad stomach cramping after I eat or drink anything. Not sure if it is gas pains or something else. My surgeon is 3 hours away and I just don't have the transportation or money to make that trip right now. I know if I call that is what they will tell me. Anyone else here have any issues with anything like this so long after surgery?

Nothing similar. But I hope it clears up. Please see someone as soon as you can if it doesn't go away. Keep us posted.

    Anne,

I've had some complications early on (so I am probably a bit sensitive in this area). The most recent was in August (9 months post surgery), my stomach hurt after I ate (every time I ate). That issue cleared up in about two weeks, by just going back to a basic diet of soft solids. However, that being said you can develop scar tissue in the intestine that is no longer attached over time. Which is what I was initially diagnosed with last New Years'. They were able to see the scar tissue and blockage with a cat scan. The remedy was horrible, something called an ng tube. As it turned out, there was a bigger problem last New Years' for me with my internal stitches coming undone. However, I could not keep any food down at that point.

I hope you feel better soon.
